In Japan, we don't have this custom so much like "babe", "sweetie", "honey", etc. I think it is so charming especially in the South but we don't have this here.
So my way of kind of meeting in the middle as a biracial person is that I abbreviated all my girlfriends' names. Like I shorten "Ayumi" to "Ayu", or "Megumi" to "Meg". I call my wife "Kruto". It is an abbreviation of both her first and last name. She sort of hates it but she copied me and calls me the same way based on my names.
Never really had one for any of my past relationships, most recent one I would call “Little one “ sometimes because she is petite
I often just take their name and create a nickname. For my first boyfriend (Oliver) he was Olibear. My next/last boyfriend was Jonathon and I called him Jon-Jon.
For myself, many shorten my name or refer to me by my nickname. It’s only really my father who refers to me by my full name.
My late husband I used to call him Crazy Mexican 🇲🇽& he called me psycho 😜✌️
