Say, if they've disappointed you by gossiping behind your back and also not taking you seriously? Should you turn a blind eye and ignore them or show feelings in some way that it is bothering you?

Okay thanks. But what happens when/if I stay quiet and not bring it up and I subsequently see them adjusting their behavior and respecting me again? Do I still need to speak up?

This may be too late to apply for this situation. But in general, you have to kinda go with your gut. If you make a habit of always speaking up, you'll never find yourself in the situation of having a 'standing-up-for-yourself' way after the fact... Because you'll have said something at the time.

Sometimes it's best to let sleeping dogs sleep. It mostly depends on whether the situation still bugs you.

If it does, I'd say speak up. If it's no longer happening and no longer something bothering you... Might as well let it go. But if it happens again, speak up at the time 🙂
