In a long term relationship does texting remain constant or more laxed?

I'd think there'd be less texting and more actual communication, like a phone call or spending more time together in person... I don't get these online or long distance "relationships" where it's mostly texts

I think texting tapers off some once the relationship is established. When my boyfriend and I first started dating, we texted nonstop, all day everyday. There's no way that amount of texting could be sustainable forever. We've now been together 2 years. We still text everyday but not nearly as much as before.

It will get laxed, then pickup again, then get laxed again, with no consistancy in how long either last or take to happen. Even if the 2 people are perfect for eachother.
Physical affection is meant to take up the silence, no one is going to always have stuff to talk about, stop worrying.

Just depends if we're close to each other and spend a lot of time face to face probably less texting.

But when we're away from each other we'd probably talk/text more on the phone.

Since I work from home, all I need to do is call out to my wife. We may send one another a text if one of us is out & about to get something from the store, but that's about it.
