Here's Your Merry F***ing Christmas

Oh, December, the month of going broke to show people you love them them and choking down peppermint flavored everything. Most people would argue," No, it's the month of holiday cheer!" But cheer for which holiday? Certainly not Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, right? Of course not, because December is actually the month of religious Supremacy.

You usually hear 'happy holidays!' When gathering your bags to leave the store. Depending on how straightforward the person behind you is, you may also hear a spitefully grumbled," It's Merry Christmas." More likely, though, you'll just see a post on Facebook from the disgruntled person.

I would quite honestly like to know what holiday SWAT team barged into their homes, tore down their Christmas trees, and gave them all fines for celebrating Christmas. I celebrate Christmas, but I've never met this SWAT team. Will they knock down my door next? Chances are, it won't happen, because there is no "holiday SWAT team".

No one is telling people not to say Merry Christmas. No one calls it a "holiday tree". In fact, these Christmas loving people are becoming the holiday SWAT team. They target people who are uncomfortable with saying or celebrating Christmas, and act as though Christians didn't steal the idea for this holiday from the pagans.

Did you know that the Bible doesn't specify Jesus's date of birth? Perhaps it's because Christianity has simply been borrowing holidays from other cultures since its beginning. And yet, now December means everyone else loses their religious rights and freedom of speech because they choose "happy holidays" over "Merry Christmas".

These people are usually the same ones who get angry when non Christians to celebrate Christmas. Now explain to me how that makes any sense. Did you know that many non Christians celebrate Christmas? According to a survey done in 2013 By The Pew research center, around 8 out of 10 non Christians celebrate Christmas. 81% of non Christians in the US celebrate a Christian holiday. So what are people more angry about, the fact that not everyone celebrates Christmas, or the fact that non Christians do? I really don't think they even know what they're angry about anymore.

Does anyone remember the Starbucks "War on Christmas" in 2015? They debuted a red holiday cup. Gasp! No Christmas themes?! How dare they! I mean, the executive chairman and CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, is Jewish, but still how dare they not revolve around Christmas?!

Referring to an earlier photo, America is not a fully Christian Nation. Our own Constitution calls for separation of church and state! We are a "Melting Pot", not a Christian Nation. An article published in 2013 By the Washington Times states that 90% of all Americans celebrate Christmas. Granted, that is a very large percentage. However, that still leaves 10% of Americans who do not celebrate it. Because of that, it's only respectful to say happy holidays, as it includes all holidays. I will continue to wish people happy holidays, despite your best efforts to change that. But if you truly need to hear me say it, here's your Merry f***ing Christmas.

Only in America I see this as an issue. In my country it doesn't matter if you're Muslim, Hindu, Baptist , non-religious etc... everyone celebrates Christmas and wishes each other "Merry Christmas " without throwing a fit.

Although I do celebrate it, I hate it when someone has to claim theirs a war in Christmas simply because their cashier told them to have a happy holiday. Well technically nobody should be saying merry Christmas yet as it's only the 11th and Christmas is 2 weeks away. Christmas dec 25th is mostly a Christian thing few religions actually have a major holy day on it, Hanukkah is celebrated on nearly any day in December, American Hindus have a 5 day feast 21st-25th, any pagan religions which have a festival such as the germanic/Norse Yule or roman Dies Natalis Solis Invicti are dead and forgotten.

Here in Israel where like 80% of people are Jewish, the college STILL hosts a Christmas party for Christian students! You wanna talk about acceptance? Take a lesson America! Eh, maybe because it's easier that way? Religion promotes biases. Academic trust can't have biases. That's why often religion doesn't have much place on campus. Also, the constitution demands separation of church and state. Public colleges have to be non religious. It's a demand by constitution. It is why private colleges sometimes choose to have religious affiliation. But if private and non religious, it's by smarter choice to make the college less biased and more competitive. But often, both private and public colleges ignore the rule and promote Christmas stuff anywhere anyways and then wonder why they are sued. Unless they solidly state they are affiliated, it is assumed they aren't and shouldn't be. And, when holidays are celebrated, EVERY holiday brought up needs to have equal representation. Secular is secular. Period. If people want Christianity on campus, there are probably even some non profit or possibly even public (not often or not at all, not sure) campuses that clearly

allow for it and they should have went there. You are bound by the rules the constitution has in place and shouldn't promote for the school to ignore it. Or else, you better be prepped with lawyers. Take any public school in America. Many likely have plenty of specifically Christmas stuff on campus often not funded by by christian organizations, but by the school. Any hannukah stuff however, usually has to be funded by Hillel or a Jewish organization IF it exists. Same with any other non Christian holiday. This is bound by law applicable for complaints, fines and lawsuits. If it is a public school, this isn't allowed. Even my public high school I went to. During the holidays, they only had a Christmas tree. Also, they even had a song that played that mentioned JC. I could have sued the living hell outta them for it and won SUPER easily. And likely, somebody may one day. And that school actually has a pretty good record on that stuff compared to some. Again, look at my Israeli college.

Santa, his elves and his reindeer have little to with Christianity so that's the atheists satisfied. Changing it to something other than Christmas would mean the 90% of Christians would not bother. It makes for your schools to celebrate both as Jesus and hannukah are important to Christians and Muslims. Also a lot of places like Japan have Christmas trees and lights as it's part of the spectecual and commercialisation of Christmas. Only 1% of Americans are Jews. 0.9% are muslims, 70% identify as Christians. 20% identify as atheists or agnostics or humanists the majority of whom have no problem with Christmas or Christmas trees as it's part of their cultural heritage and childhood. We shouldn't force others to change their religious festivals or holidays to be inclusive of others who don't even celebrate their religion at that particular day. I say let people have their religious festivals and their culture.
