  • It's an actual sign of women's oppression something we in the west have rejected, therefore we should also reject the hijab. Not in a legal context but it should not be encouraged.

Anything that covers your face mostly/completely should be banned anywhere you can't wear a balaclava though.

  • Please get your facts right.
There are countless women who donned hijab and still get molested and raped. When the perpetrator decides on a victim, no amount of clothes or covering is gonna help her.
Whether a woman decides to wear the hijab or not, it should be up to her, her freedom to practise her religious beliefs.

But it's not up to her! She's forced. Did you even watch the video?

    • 12 d ago

I did watch the video. My stand is that if you think wearing a hijab can prevent molestations, then you are wrong. Many women still are molested and raped even if they wear the hijab.
I am not a Muslim. However, I want to wear a hijab just because I think it looks nice on me. Can I not do that?

    • 12 d ago

Maybe you can do that. Tho I personally don't think anything. He was reading verses of Qur'an. Whatever he said was in Qur'an.

  • Nothing. The women that want to wear it should wear and the women that don't want to but must should have a choice.

I think it's a bit foolish for a woman to hide her beauty because a man might be susceptible to her? It sounds like that man is the problem, not the woman.

Just watched it. I don't agree.
      1) Why must they cover themselves up to be protected? If the man cannot control himself and attacks the woman, there is something wrong with him.
      2) She can still be molested while wearing a hajib. It is a symbol that she is a woman. Any man can still molest her.

      He was quoting Qur'an.

  • I actually find Hijabi women beautiful. I respect their dedication, its not easy hiding your beauty and putting on the Hijab every day. Also people in the states often glare at hijabi women.

    So I am a pro-hijab Christian. lol

I did, and that guy is an idiot.
In those countries, sexual liberation is the last thing they need. Exposing their women means opening them up to all types of abuse.

I am not for "empowering women" i am for women fulfilling their natural role. Islam is actually popular with a lot of young women because it brings order in their lives. It clearly defines roles.

I saw that video, and the guy is shilling the usually anti-Islamic talking points, while also trying to expose the hypocrisy of feminists who support hijabi women.

I would like to ask guys like him, if they would prefer their daughters dress as modestly as possible or like a typical western woman would.

    • 13 d ago

I feel modesty should be taught and not imposed. Because when it gets religious, it gets a bit volatile. People gets emotional when it comes to religion.

  • I have no problem at all with the hijab. It's just a head scarf, right? Some of them are very attractive. And women in lots of different cultures wear headscarves, at least occasionally.
I do have a problem with burkas. They are ugly, black (sometimes blue) monstrosities. They represent female bondage and, I think, originate from the Wahhabi style of Islamic fundamentalism. I don't trust anyone whose face I can't see. They should be outlawed in this country.

  • The Hijab is good for Middle Eastern women who are Muslim, and good for their men, apparently. If we are not Muslim or Middle Eastern, let's not stick our noses in their business. It's their culture and religion, not ours.

You see this is what is wrong with the world!

  • First of all it makes no sense, nobody cares about your HAIR. The Burka/Niqab at least does what it claims.

Western Muslim women like to pretend that it's a choice but it really isn't in most cases. Oh you wear it because you WANT to huh? So your father and/or imam would be a-ok if you suddenly stopped?

  • Keep importing muslims and women won't have a choice. The ability to think that you can control someone's behavior by telling them no, and then NOT have any way of enforcing that is genuinely impressive to me. Like British police officers who don't carry guns.

    "Teach men not to rape!"
    And if that doesn't work?
"Well then we'll kick and scream and have another women's march, pissy at NOT rapists."

  • I would like to hear the opinions of women who wear a hijab sense I think their opinions on would be a lot more important. I don't necessarily see the hijab itself as bad, i know there are women who don't mind to wear one but if they don't i don't think it should result in harm.

  • Neither, it just is and if a woman wants to wear one she should be allowed to (btw it's funny in the pic it is not a hijab)

  • Can't say anything to it, coz the religion made this things and no one can change the minds of the people who have a great belief in religion for no reason

  • I Muslim countries if your are on your own without a male relative to escort you regardless of the hijab or burka you are fair game to be molested, raped or even gang raped.

  • Europe has strong body culture. It does not belong here for casual wear. Headcoverings have only used by women who are in menopause, servants, or when going to church. Other peoples can do as they please of course.

  • to be honest, they are just scarves just like any other that could be used (by me) or any other for numerous purposes. to keep warm (in any area of the body), self defense weapon (choker or a distraction for to flee), washcloth, messing with a bull, hide something you woudn't like others to see (from hiding thing in your car from the outside world to hiding a gift/surprise for someone). there are many possablities and i would use it as any other kind of scarf/shawl. the way i see it, scarves/shawls/hijabs are just another good clothing that can be used many different wise and clever ways
