Did Satan really think he could persuade Jesus to commit sin?

Did Satan really think he could persuade Jesus to commit sin?
Is Satan foolish to think he could have a serious chance at persuading Jesus to do sinful things?

You would think Satan would be wasting his time trying to get Jesus to sin but we know that had he succeeded, that would have been a huge blow to God to have his spiritual nemesis to follow after Satan.

Please share your views on why Satan felt he could contribute to Jesus yielding to temptation!

Also, if Jesus had failed, how would you have felt? Don't give me any of this crap about Jesus couldn't have failed because He was God's son. Yes He could have. Jesus had free will and could have chose to sin and follow Satan but He wanted to follow God, His Father!
