I disagree that most religious people are in fact hateful, that's my experience
Yeah right. But go off
Or those who choose which Bible teachings to follow and which to exclude
I dunno -While I see the obvious problems with a christian contradicting their holy book by cherry picking, a christian who chooses to do mental gymnastics to ignore the bits they don't like, is at at least /trying/ to make their theology fit their modern ideals. The less of the bible someone follows, the better.
But you can't change God's teachings and tailor them to your liking. It shows they are a scam
Agreed. But that doesn't make someone wicked, which was what we were talking about.
It's part of being wicked though. You are pretending something you are not, so you are a liar and they don't follow the exact teachings because they are biased which they claim is not true either. It's how 99 percent of religious people are
This shows they are immoral, so definitely wicked
You're stuck in the 1860s, nobody uses the bible as an excuse for slavery as there is none. Those who say that don't actually give a crap about religion and are just cherry picking and taking out of context verses to give an excuse for their political beliefs.
@Rangers You are amusingly poorly informed and confused.I am not saying that there are theists in the western world taking slaves and using the bible to justify their actions. (Though I acknowledge slavery is still an issue in other places)What I /am/ talking about, is that there are theists who will read the parts of the bible pertaining to slavery, and perform mental gymnastics to justify 'biblical slavery', as if slavery could ever be justified regardless of how nice theists will try to make it sound.
You didn't seem to read what I wrote because I explicitly said there's no justification for slavery, even if God did approve of it (which he obviously didn't) nothing would change in that statement. And you reiterated what I said which is that people take verses out of context to justify their beliefs which don't have to do with the Bible because they erase everything they don't like in it
You said "Nobody uses the bible as an excuse for slavery as their is none" not "There is no excuse for slavery". Those sentences have very different meanings -The latter is you telling me your personal position on slavery, that slavery is never justified - Good, we're on the same page, there, fine. But the former sentence suggests the denial that there are /any/ theists who /do/ justify slavery, which is just plain false. Your god clearly does approve of slavery. But I'd be curious to know what context those verses could ever be twisted into that makes them not justify slavery. I don't think that slavery-justifiying-theists are the ones twisting the bible - they're the ones just reading it verbatim. What they have twisted is their own sense or morality to try and force their 'biblical slavery' to not be at odds with their modern ideals.
You seem to again miss the full sentence, I was talking about excuses for slavery and said "there is none". That's because I can tell you're stuck in the 1860s when whether slavery was bad or not was sadly actually in question by the general public. Nobody who actually took the time to read the Bible will come away thinking slavery is something he supported, anyone who says otherwise obviously didn't read the Bible or at the very most, did so looking for justification for their extreme views by taking quotes out of context.
@Rangers Then you need to take that up with theists who do think that their god supported slavery.

No religious people are those who are opinionated
You have no evidence either
God did not make people to be corrupt. Our flesh state right now is corrupt - from the way we think to things we do to our bodies. It's all yikes. All because we disobeyed God. People play God and emphasize what Satan tells them in their minds. The mind is where Satan loves which is why we never finish our tasks and are double minded. Fleeting from one thing to another looking for love and peace. But all these have been guaranteed by coming to God directly.
Those people are wrong as the verses they use to say that are taken out of context and believing otherwise would require that they think he'd intentionally predispose people to a sinful way of life, which is a very hard case to make given that he loves us all. But then they of course say it's a decision, while for many it is, for most, they were born that way
Completely irrelevant to the question. Reported as nonsense.Have a nice day
I will take that as a "NO" ... lol... I sincerely hope it gets better :)You could just delete my reply if you like. I will tell you how if you want to know. I don't mind, I know you are frustrated right now and maybe that will help you feel better and that's all I care about really :)
No I am not frustrated. Just bored. You assumed wrong
There's a first time for everything... lolI like you anyway, even though you don't like me for now. I know there is a very good person inside you :)
I find many are like that, they try to push their views on you
Lot of them are
Ah ok making sure
Both groups exhibit similar traits but religious people preach teachings which they don't follow and twist their religion so it suits themselves
So where do you fit? 😂
@Tormentarian Who are you asking?
Jesus Stalins are inflated
You forgot Churchill who starved 3 million Indians and bombed 360,000 Germans
Oh yes sorry, they didn't add Agnostic Churchill on this list
You child if Satan
I think she includes spirituals as well by mentioning “religious” people
Yes. Some spiritualists are evil like wizards but the religious are more apt to be evil as they aren't likely to follow Jesus as a spiritual person into Christianity is.
What about atheists? lol
You are the one who PMd me right? What did you want to talk about?
Just like you
