If anybody does anything like a good deed, its for self satisfaction. These people get happy by doing it. Thats the only reason they do it.
Of course thats too narrow. But in all reality, people fo things because they want to cus they like it or because they have to. In this case its more on the want to side. I'd say good humans are like that. They get happy by helping and they help to get happy.
There are others who genuinely help just ti help, those are rare.
They won't helpout just anyone, they will literally evaluate if its necessary and then help. Thsoe humans are gold.

What you're asking about is called altruism. It's a heavily debated topic in ethics and sociology. Altruism is basically taking actions to benefit others with no expectation of or resultant benefit to oneself.

I personally believe that some people are capable of true altruism, but it takes someone being fully self-actualized on order for this to be a genuine motivation to action.

Interesting question, in general I'd say that depends on the person. From personal experience, if I see someone needs help, I just help, like seeing someone carrying something heavy and having a hard time from what I can read in their faces, I'd just jump there and help no matter who the person is. But some people say no or even get angry because they'd never do something like that or think I want something in return. For me it's just an impulse, one I don't overthink.

It's nothing to do with religion although some religions do have best behaviour guidelines.
The woman's life values and experience told her rewarding good and apparently altruistic behaviour was the right thing to do. Most parents also know this.
In this case, you could argue that your cousin was being self serving ultimately. But maybe it doesn't matter. She put in the time and effort for no monetary reward. That is something that should be commended.
To the rich woman, this was but a small token of her gratitude. It also speaks well of her.

Lots of reasons. Doing good is a positive contribution to society as a whole, no matter how small.
if you have the choice between doing positive, doing nothing, or doing negative, the most benefit for the common good is in doing something positive.
You can use logic and reason to figure this out. You can use spirituality. You can use the belief in karma. You can just be a nice person who was raised with good morals.

Nothing requires you to be religious, but that is a lie that religious people often tell, because their faith says that if you don't have religion, you're evil. And good deeds coming from "evil" people, makes their religion a lie.

I've seen and heard of atheists that have done nice things all the time! Which is why the idea, if I've been a good person can I go to heaven, does not make sense. Simply because you don't need good works but a connection to God.

Some people feel better if they do something good for someone. Sometimes it's a whim, sometimes gratification of their ego and sometimes they want show other how good they are (self-promotion)

While your more likely to find someone doing an unnecessary good deed due to religion it's not uncommon to see non religious people doing good deeds just for the sake of it.
