How can Jesus be both man and God?

Who created the first man and woman, animals, life etc before Jesus was born?

How could he die if he was God, a supreme being?

Is Jesus the one and only God and creator of life Christians believe in?

Just a bit confused and a bit curious about Christianity so I was wondering if anyone would like to clear that up I’d appreciate it.

So, you can make up whatever you like, that’s the beauty of religion. It’s about building a creative fantasy using your imagination, and then pretending like that’s reality.

Here’s an example: (none of this is true or untrue, it’s just something I’m going to make up, and if you decide to believe it, then that means it’s true for you):

Jesus is God. But God is totally powerful and can do anything he wants, so Jesus is like a piece of him, and also all of him, with all of his powers, all at the same time. Jesus is a manifestation of God as a man. It’s like his human form that he can use to go back about on earth without killing anyone with his incredible magnificence, becauseIf a human side of God without some kind of disguise to protect him from his amazing magnificent, they would just die from the exposure.

So God/Jesus made the animals and everything the planets in light in the sun and everything that we know and all the stuff we don’t know as well, long before Jesus met with humans. But, God started getting pissed off about how humans were acting. He tried drowning them with a big flood, but then they still kept acting up a bit, so he thought “I’m gonna have to take this into my own hands“ and poof he became Jesus and started teaching all around the area, gathering disciples, etc. He just did this in Israel kind of area and Mediterranean. He could’ve also done it in China, India, in Thailand, and over with the natives in North America and South America and Iceland, and all the other places on the world as well, but he didn’t bother because he knew it would probably spread pretty well. And that there would be some issues with say Hinduism, and Muslims, but he thought “that’ll be good for the people to have some choices but they’ll still need to know that I am the one and only way. If they can’t figure that out then I’m gonna make them burn forever in a fiery pit that I’ll call Hell.”

Now, this might not make too much sense to you, but you’re not God so that’s probably why.

Jesus is the son of God, but he is also God. You can think of it like this; if you manage to perfectly clone yourself, your clone is technically both your child and you at the same time. The relationship betweem Jesus and God the Father is much like this.

God didn't do this for fun, or because he was bored, he needed to. God wanted to better understand life from our perspective, so he made Jesus, only he stripped away much of his divinity, leaving him mostly human, while leaving his authority as God, so that he might better understand us and the temptations we struggle with.

But thats not all. God also wanted to have personal one-on-one relationships with each of us, but the actions of Eve and Adam made that immposible. Those two introduced sin into the world, and in so doing cut us away from God, as sin, and sinners, cannot exist in his presence. Our sin demands a punishment or payment. In ancient times, the Jews lived a rules based faith that demanded they sacrifice as payment for their sins, but this was immperfect, and needed to be repeated. God the Father wanted to fix this, so he sent Jesus to act as a perfect sacrifice. His death payed the price for all sins ever committed; past, present, and future, so that now we no longer need to sacrifice to attone for our sins, can live a grace based faith, and can have a personal relationship with God.

I'd say that it's most clearly spelled out in the first chapter of St. John's Gospel. He writes that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him... and the Word was made flesh..." (John 1:1-3, 14). This is what we would call the "Incarnation", or the taking on of flesh.

Here's an analogy to start, imperfect though it might be. I'm a man. When I married my wife, I continued to be a man, but I then became what I wasn't before, which is a husband. I still thought, spoke, and acted like a man, but I had a new identity as a husband.

To apply the analogy here, the Church teaches that Jesus and God are "consubstantial", or "of the same substance". Without ceasing to be the Divine Word (see the earlier Scripture reference), Jesus took on human flesh and became man.

As for how He dies, John's Gospel also gives us an insight when he reports Jesus saying "... I lay down my life, that I may take it again. No man taketh it away from me: but I lay it down of myself. And I have power to lay it down: and I have power to take it up again. This commandment have I received of my Father" (John 10:17-18), and later "Thou shouldst not have any power against me, unless it were given thee from above" (John 19:11). That is specifically why He took on human flesh, so that he might offer His life for our sins.

I'm sure that some smartarse will soon correct me here... without making a change, though:
From the Bible texts, Jesus has referred to God as his Father.
He also is said to have stated that as he does nothing out of own impulse, but based on God's command and will; this leads to the conclusion that he is sort of 'as good as God'. Especially, according to Bible texts, as God had delegated his power to Jesus. Similarly, a government consists of a number of individuals - with ONE having the last word.
How could Jesus die: his body died; but his soul (or spirit, or whatever) was not destroyed/annihilated. His 'death' was more a transition from one kind of being to some other kind.
When some Christian branches refer to the trinity of God, I see it more like an attempt of 'explaining' different ways of how God manifests from our own perception. Neither do I see the idea as having three Gods, nor do I understand it like one God who's split in three parts.
One more about dying: our physical life as humans here is said to be followed by a different life later on -as long as we are accepted- so: one can only die (or be annihilated) from NOT being accepted.

Science sees that differently. But we must not forget that the surviving Bible texts were man-written (with best intentions, but with limited knowledge)
My own view: God had created the universe which included the plan to have the 'settings' for mankind to pop up the way science now discovers it. Where I see 'Adam and Eve' as a specific sample pair that is/was part of a specific (call it) experiment.

One problem with Christians is that 'we' can't come to a global agreement of what's 'true' (or fact) and what not.
Myself, I put it like that: we'll see soon enough. Relax until then, but do what you think is right.

The Christian understanding of God is as a Triune entity. That is difficult to explain, as there is no perfect example in nature. Yet, we do see where we can have infinites of the same degree that are equal yet distinct. All whole numbers, all even integers, all integers that can be divided by four. Each group is infinite, can be placed in a one to one correspondence with all integers, and are similar yet different.

Also, there is nothing in the concept of Theanthropos that violates formal logic.
Jesus, being fully man and fully God, allowed him to bridge the divide caused by human sin and allowed him to be a true mediator. His perfect sacrifice allowed him to cover the sins of all who trust in him.

You're looking for logic in something that doesn't follow any. The answer is to not question anything and take it on blind faith. Remember: The bible starts with telling you that knowledge is bad and if you eat from that tree you'll be kicked out of paradise. So never think.

In the Christian believe: God, the Holy Ghost, and Jesus work together in the Holy Trinity. So, they are of the same. Not to mention, Jesus did live on Earth like any other man. So, they would make him man.
