I would not necessarily call what I think, and the Way I follow, a "religion". I do think that DOGMATIC "Religion" based on the Literal text, of the "Holy" books, without modern INTERPRETATION, is inherently prone to bad results! Toxic? It doesn't need to be, but it comes down to interpretation, in the MODERN AGE!
I don't think so, I think it may seem like it because religious texts doesn't always match up our society's ideologies and also some people take religious texts out of contexts.
Any belief which is taken to the extreme can be toxic, and even the ones which are about self sacrifice and ridding oneself of earthly life

Big time.
Religion was developed to be a tool for a select few to control the actions and lives of the people who are tricked into, or gullible enough, to believe the stories made up to put fear into people so they become willing slaves to the religion and the masters who control it.
For example, simplified, "Either believe what I tell you and what is written in this book or you will go to Hell." Another example, you don't go confess your sins, you give the listener information to better manipulate you.

Nope. That's as daft as asserting all parents are "inherently bad".
Society and its people are not a monolith. In fact politics and self interest are much bigger drivers of the human psyche, than religion.
But then you add people into the equation and that always makes everything toxic.

If seen from my perspective its toxic. Like in my country it's just too much. I am in India by the way. People do extreme hate crime under the name of religion. People mostly target Muslims and lower caste. Rapes, murder, kidnapping, etc. Like all kinds of crimes. So I think if religion was to reduce these crime, why are they growing.

Religion is highly toxic. Faith on the other hand is essential.

No. But it is constantly used as a way to wield power.

I think it is the exact opposite. It's the reason my sister is no longer suicidal. Well that, and she changed her meds.

Hate the word "toxic!" Some people are "toxic." It's not the fault of religion that some people take it and use it as an instrument of evil.
