It’s easy!
Just don’t wear anything provocative out in the streets
Lol, Kidding!
This is one major misconception and myths about rape that I would love to clear out before I start, along with many others.
Myth #1 = Wearing provoking attires increases your chances of getting rape
Again this is 100% False. Sexual stimuli don’t encourage rapist to rape. A rapist will rape his/her victims no matter what they are wearing, whether they are sexually attractive or not, what age they may appear to be, etc. in fact rape is never about sex and I’m gonna explain that in a second.
Myth #2 = Rape is all about sex
WRONG! The majority of the people assume that rapist are sexually deprived individuals who desperately need sex. Sadly this misconception has cause lots of women to fear men in general. But this isn’t the case, if that really was the case don’t you think everybody in the world would be a rapist by now? Or better yet don’t you think rape would occur a lot more often than it does right now? 293,000 a year? The bottom line is rapist don’t rape for sex, they rape for power. The majority of the times rapist are just sick demented people who are fed up with life one way or another so they seek rape as a way to drain out their frustration and feel empower one way or another.
Myth #3 = Only men can rape
I don’t care if this one goes out the door or the window but this one definitely has to get the fuck out of here once and for all! As a man I think I have my rights to feel offended by this one. It seriously enrages me every time I come in this site and the subject rape is brought up everyone just jumps the gun and assume only men are potential rapist. Well I’m here to tell you that Women can be rapists too and on that very exact same boat Men could be victims of rape too. In fact ironically I have answered a few questions here in the past about girls being rape by women in their past. Bottom line is both Men and Women could be potential rapist, period!
Myth #4 = Rape only occurs in shady places like dark alleys, parking lots, abandon building, etc.
Believe it or not but you are more likely to get rape either at your own home or over at your friend’s home than in any other public places. Of course this does not mean that dark alleys, parking lots, abandon buildings or any other shady places are safe and this definitely does not mean you should never feel safe in your home or over at a friend’s.
Myth #5 = Rapists always dress and behave suspiciously
There really isn’t a way you can identify a rapist in plain sight unless of course you have psychic powers. With this said a person’s behavior, personality, style of clothing, and personal hygiene cannot hint out if that person is a rapist or not.
Myth #6 = Fighting back is useless
If you ever become a victim of rape it is always your responsibility to fight back no matter if the rapist packs more strength than you. Believe or not but rapists are mortal humans too, they can still feel fear and many other negative emotions that may make them vulnerable. Some rapists will eventually give up if they get the hint that their victim has the will to fight back and defend him/herself. So if you ever come across a rapists always consider making self-defense your top priority, it can safe your life!
Myth #7 = It’s your fault if you get rape
Don’t listen to rejects who say such a thing! It is never your fault if you get raped or not and there is no way you could ever ask for this, it just isn’t possible.
Myth #8 = It’s not considered rape if you climaxed or experience an orgasm
I really doubt anyone would ever enjoyed being raped, but if you ever climax or experience an orgasm during rape is still rape either way. Let’s not forget that we basically have no control over these areas of our body. So if you experience any type of pleasure during rape don’t ever feel guilty about it, this does not mean that you are insane in any way. But do seek help and justice either way immediately.
Anyways with those out of the way I will now get to the point
These are a few tips on how to avoid rape
Beware of the drinks you are consuming that night
At a party try to always serve your own drinks and be very VERY cautious with who you receive drinks from, especially from folks you don’t know.
When going to a club/bar always keep your eyes on the bartender and make sure he/she…
- Prepares the drink right in front of you.
- Doesn’t turn his/her back towards you
- Doesn’t puts his/her hands in his/her pockets or up his/her sleeves
- Doesn’t duck behind the counter with your drink at hand
- Doesn’t go anywhere else around the bar with your drink at hand
If for some reason he/she fails to do any of the above then either reject the drink, tell him/her to make you another one or just walk away before he/she serves it to you.
Once you have your drink always keep it at hand and take it with you wherever you go. Always hold it in your hands even if you aren’t drinking it at the moment. Never leave your drink unattended anywhere! If you fail to do this you will be a sitting duck for the rapist who notoriously drugged their victims before getting into the real action. And if by any chance you are force to leave your drink unattended just give it to one of your friends (a true friend that you really trust) and ask him/her to hold it for you before you take off. Also at your party/club nights always try to go with at least one sober friend so he/she can be your sober wingman for the night.
Always Have Reliable Transportation
This is where your sober friend comes extremely handy. When party is over always have someone you know or trust drive you home. If none of the above is possible then call a taxi. Never ask strangers for a ride home and most importantly do not walk home alone especially if you are drunk.
Consider using safety apps like Circle of 6
Before I continue I would like to point out that I am not affiliating for this app in any way, shape or form, but oh well this is a really good app indeed if you want to make safety your main priority on your night out. It works by allowing you to choose 6 of your closes friends along with their phone numbers. once you are out and something bad happens to you can just tap the screen of your cellphone and it sends out a distress signal to those 6 friends of yours along with the current location you are in. if you want to know more about this app you can read more about it under this link https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id507735256?mt=8
You are not absolutely safe till you enter your home
Once you arrive home always look around to see if there aren’t any suspicious people loitering outside your house. Also check to see if there aren’t any suspicious cars parked nearby. In this case you can avoid this by just having your ride wait for you till you safely get to your door. If this isn’t an option then call your friends on your cell and start a brief conversation with them till you arrive at your door safely.
Never leave your home without one of the following
Don’t get me wrong people I’m not a big fan of violence but in this cold world we live in it isn’t such a bad idea to carry one of the above. Let’s not forget that these don’t just work on rapist, they also work on muggers, bored gangbangers, and many other human beings that post as a major threat to you.
Practice martial arts
This is by far the best method to stay safe, but of course this has many other benefits so don’t let rape be the only reason why you may want to practice this.
All well that’s all folks!
I hope you found this article useful and remember, lets continue making this world a better and more fun place to live in!
