Women Just Don't Find Average and Skinny Guys Physically Attractive

It's too bad that skinny guys and average-build guys (don't work out) don't look physically attractive to women. The only thing that helps them out is their personality, unfortunately. On the other hand, skinny and average-build women still look very pleasing to the eye. It's why men need to work out to be attractive yet women don't need to work out and still look attractive. I'm not body shaming by the way.

As surprising as it might be, I used to think men and women were attracted to each other in the same way but I'm not sure anymore. If a man at a beach looks skinny, no women will pay attention to him. I used to think that the fact that he is a man would be enough to get a woman excited but unfortunately, that's not the case. Women may get excited if he has muscle. When us guys see a very skinny/scrawny woman, she is still pleasing to the eye.

I think the problem is that being super skinny is a feminine trait. I've noticed that scrawny guys, tend to look effeminate (no offense, it's just the correct word). Naturally, us men have rugged and "rough" skin, so it doesn't look pleasing the eye to a lot of women but skinny guys have smooth skin, which is a feminine trait. Some women like smooth skin on guys but that means they like femininity in men.

Skinny men tend to develop curves; obviously curves are a feminine feature as well but some women like curves on men. But again, that means they like feminine features on men.

The average built man (not physically fit) is also not considered attractive by many women. A shirtless average-built man won't even get attention from women. Now, an average-built women will still get attention from men.

If women really find men's overall faces and skin pleasing to the eyes, that could really help out these guys. Again I'm not body-shaming them, I'm just stating possible reasons why non-physically fit men aren't considered attractive. I'm not exactly sure why certain women like skinny guys and I'm not sure if it's because they are feminine, or if they still look masculine. Now you know why male models need muscle; even with muscle they still don't get too much female attention. A lot of straight women agree that men just don't look as good as women do, unfortunately.

Women generally prefer taller and stronger for two reasons (I believe)

1. It appears like they are more capable of defending her from any attack. Yeah you *could* know how to fight while being short and skinny, but if you don't know anything about the guy, wouldn't you go for the tall muscular one as a body guard?

2. They want someone that is the opposite of your average woman. They don't want a shorter, narrow, long haired, muscleless man, they want a tall, wide, muscular short haired guy. There are exceptions to this rule, but on average this is what they prefer. Do you look for a tall woman with a beard and wide shoulders?

And I say this as a 5'5" 140lb guy :P

Yes they want a man who can defend them, but a tall and muscular man is also simple looks better and more manly, sorry to tell you that but it's the truth. :)

What is it with you and physical attraction?
Most men don't find chubby women attractive, do you see me complaining? Nah.
But I like various body types on men ranging from skinny, slim, average, chubby and solid, I don't like them OTT muscular with veins popping out everywhere.

but women are not attracted to chubby, normal, or skinny men attractive. The man needs to be muscular in some way to be considered attractive to most people. This is not a bad preference, just stating its existence. Men on the other hand are not as picky. They only dislike chubby women as you state. And as for the homosexual population, I can personally attest to it being radically different on both sides.

I'll be the first to say that yes, a muscular physique is definitely the most attractive, but I know personally, I find an average/slightly skinnier physique more attractive than an overweight one.

Looks like you got it right now, for the most part, and yes that's why male models and male strippers tend to be muscular. Average built men are really not that impressive to most women, when it's comes to looks, with the exception of tallness and good looking face.

I actually don't find scrawny/skinny girls attractive at all, and I don't think many guys I know do, either. It's true that a woman can have an average build and perhaps be more attractive to guys, as opposed to an average-build guy being attractive to girls. But that's just chemistry, I think. We are still animals, after all, and males that appear stronger will invariably draw the eye of females.

Not sure it's any more complex than that. :)

I feel like your pics are ambiguous. The first/fourth guy seems actually underweight. The second one isn't super skinny in terms of weight, it looks like he just has a really small frame. The third one looks pretty normal/healthy but he just has a young / boyish face.

I personally find skinny scrawny guys to be the way more sexually attractive and I think musclular men are the most disgusting thing ever and I've always avoided jocks. This may be because growing up I found muscular men more intimidating. I dont want to date someone who could beat me up. Maybe the authors on to something about liking femininity because im also im bisexual and i love the female figure. So all you lanky guys out there, dont worry about body type and please stay out of the gym!

Muscular and built guys have never done anything for me. I've always prefered the tall and lanky or average looking guys. Celebrities I've found attractive at one time or another J. G. Lovett, Patrick Fugit, Adam Brody, Adrian Brody, Ian Somerholder, Jake Gyllenhall, Ryan Gosling

Ny attraction to them pretty much stems from how well they have played certain roles. While some of them may have built muscle due to Hollywood demand its not what draws me. But still they are average/skinny. Guys built like vin diesel are a total turn off for me.

And id argue that women have a highier expectation to try a lot harder to look attractive and maintain their appearance.

I can't tell you how many times I've read a guy on GAS complain about thwir girlfriend gaining weight, or that because they are a fitness trainer they ecpect their girls to put in equal amount of work.

I'm saying i think I've developed a type based on a personality i commonly associated with a particular appearance. But having a type doesn't mean I'm not open to other types. My boyfriend for example doesn't fit this type.
