The Several Types of Catfish

The one with the wrong gender

This isn't about someone who is transgender. This is usually a straight or bi guy who is pretending to be a woman just to get themselves off by their sexual posts or to get more attention. Or a gay or bi guy who pretends to be a woman just to get nude photos from desperate, straight guys. Some of these catfishes are trying to get sexual info/pictures from people. However, this doesn't quite give a full explanation. They are probably underage and don't any have access to pornography or they are pedophiles.

Males who pretend to be females are more common than females who pretend to be males. They tend to go unnoticed. Females who pretend to be males are probably just avoiding perverted males and think it's easier to be a male over the internet.

Anyone who pretends to be the opposite gender might troll and try to make that gender look bad.

The one who spies

The spy usually tries to look for their ex, partner, or whatever to see if they would trust and fall for the fake picture. This catfish is trying to figure something out.

The one with the correct gender and face but gives wrong bio

If someone gives you evidence that their gender and face is real, never assume they gave you their right bio. It's very easy for people to lie over the internet, especially when you have no idea who they are. For example, a married man can lie about being single even if he gave you evidence that his photos are real.

The one with the correct gender but gives the wrong face and/or wrong bio

This is usually a person who isn't attractive, and/or doesn't like who they are and the way their life is. This person gets the thrill of pretending to be someone else because it gives them some sort of benefit and gain.

The one who is trying to do a social experiment

This catfish wants to see how they would be treated if they were a different person on the internet.

The one who is trying to seek revenge

This catfish is trying to get revenge against the person in the picture. They usually get revenge by making obscene posts and other things to try to ruin the person's reputation.

The one who uses photoshop

They might be photoshopping their own pictures (or someone else's pictures) to the point where it doesn't quite look like the real picture. They might be very good at manipulating the photos to the point where they can deceive you about certain things. For example, they might use their own hand to do a spoon pic but use someone else's face at the same time. They do this to avoid getting caught.

The one with multiple accounts

This catfish gets some sort of pleasure or benefit by pretending to be multiple people. They must be bored or they might have multiple personality disorder.

The one that reincarnates into someone else

This type of catfish gets tired of pretending to be a certain kind of person and then deactivates. After they get bored of pretending to be someone, they come back with a new account and pretend to be a whole, new different person.

The one that pretends to be genetic trash and worthless

This one tends to go unnoticed because catfishes usually pretend to be attractive and successful. This really isn't a catfish, it's usually just a troll, unless they have a picture of an ugly person and say it's them. These people say bad things about themselves, whether it's true or not, just to fish for compliments or just to make themselves and others laugh.This person might be mocking people with those flaws or they are just exaggerating how big their flaws are

You can't trust people over the internet
