Why hello there everyone. Today I will be talking about everything I know about kissing to try and help you out, because before I had my first kiss I was terrified and the only things I knew came from those old HowCast videos.
-My Experience-
Now it would be an understatement to say I've not had much experience with kissing. I had my first kiss this year, and have only kissed one guy. My boyfriend is super experienced, an amazing kisser, and was willing to involve me in... lessons shall we say. These "lessons" were kissing sessions involving one new technique at a time, and perfecting it for a week of two before moving on to the next. It was a very comfortable way for me to get used to kissing. You may say I am under qualified to make a MyTake like this, but hopefully what I've learned can help you.
-How Your First Kiss is Going to Feel-
You have it all planned out in your head. It's going to be so romantic, fireworks exploding, dramatic music in the background, a scene from a romance movie. Now if you're with someone you really really like, you're going to enjoy it absolutely, however, keep in mind that it's weird the first time. You can't get around it, you can only power through it.
How is it weird you might ask? Well for one, it's first person. Every movie you've ever seen, every kiss you've ever witness you haven't been the person actually doing the kissing. Why does this matter? Well, for me, it was terrifyingly weird having someone's face practically ON MY FACE. I wasn't used to having someone so close. Next, I could feel him breathing on me which was so foreign to me. Plus, not knowing how to do anything made me so nervous I could hardly keep my eyes closed. Also, the only thing I could hear was kissing. There was no orchestra cheering us on. Also, how do hands work?
So its going to be weird, but just try to relax and enjoy the closeness with that person. Dont overthink it. It's probably not going to be a movie scene. Just embrace the awkwardness and let it help you get better.
-The Prep-
So you have a feeling you're going to have your first kiss soon. Maybe you started dating someone or that friend you've been crushing on is coming over to "hang out." Here's what you need to know.
1. Make sure your breath doesn't stink.
Brush your teeth, eat mints, avoid foods like garlic, cheese or anything else with a potent aftertaste.
2. Make your lips soft and juicy.
No lipstick ladies! Guys don't enjoy having lipstick on them. Opt for a clear lip gloss (avoid sticky ones) or lip balm. You can exfoliate your lips gently with a toothbrush to make sure they're soft and there are no uncomfortable pieces of skin.
3. Make sure YOU don't stink in general.
To kiss someone you must be close. You don't want to smell of BO when you go in for it.
-Starting the Kiss-
Okay so you guys have just given each other the "Omg we're totally about to kiss" face, so it's about to happen.
1. Place your hands!
There are no rules to this, but here are some basic hand placements that are less awkward. Guys, girls like a simple hand on the jaw/side of face/behind the neck placement, and with the other one around her waist. Or both on the waist. Girls, you can put your arms around his neck, or you can put one behind his head and play with his hair while the other is under his arm, around the back.
2. Don't close your eyes too soon!
You don't want to bump noses, or teeth. Keep your eyes slightly parted as you approach, and see how their head tilts and naturally tilt yours the other way.
3. Part your lips!
Ever so slightly part them and relax them. Definitely don't come at them with an open mouth like you're trying to eat them.
4. Keep it gentle!
Don't be smashing your faces together.. hard passionate kisses should come later.
-So you've had your first kiss... what now? More advanced techniques-
1. Tongue.
Definitely wait till you're comfortable with small gentle kisses before attempting this, because it's weird. Very weird the first time. Ladies, let the guy lead. He will initiate using tongue. Guys, when you're ready, slightly open your mouth a bit more, and gently run your tongue along her bottom lip as a "Let me in" gesture. If she wants to, she will then open her mouth more.
So what do your tongues actually do in there?
Well for one, they sort of dance with each other. They gently rub each other's tongues together. Not in a licking fashion, but a gentle moving around...? Almost in a circular motion. It's hard to describe. You can also lick each others lips gently, or suck on one another's tongues.
2. A favorite of mine... necking!
I absolutely love neck kissing. It's very intimate. Don't be nervous to try it! Guys and girls alike should both do this.
So how?
While you're kissing, gently move your kisses to their cheek, across their jaw, and down to the neck. Give soft, gentle kisses along the neck to avoid hickies, and don't be afraid to get your tongue involved. You can rub them and play with their hair while you do this. If your partner lifts their head and exposes more neck, they like it (see gif above) if they don't want it they will lower their chin, closing their neck off.
3. Lip Biting
Another favorite. While you're kissing, suck their bottom lip into your mouth and use your teeth to gentle message it and run across it. It stimulates so many sensations. Don't chomp down though! That would hurt your partner and could possibly kill the mood.
4. Biting... other places
Keep in mind that some people don't like this. However, my boyfriend and I love it. Nibble their ears, gently bite their neck, their shoulders etc. again don't chomp, but do it hard enough that they can feel stimulation without pain. My favorite technique is to start by kissing the neck, and throw in a little bite every once in a while. It drives my boyfriend wild.
5. Tease!
Gently let your lips slightly brush up against each other, and then look at them and smile. This lightens the mood and also makes the kissing to follow more passionate. I'm not sure what the science is behind that, but teasing basically says to your partner "You want it? Come get it" which especially drives guys wild. Men are hunters, they like to chase things. A bit of teasing will make him want you more.
