Common Manifestations of Hypocrisy in Today's World - Part 2

😕???

In my first Take I attempted to point out contradictions and inconsistencies of modern hypocrisy.

Here are some more examples:

Feminism

Feminists say they want equal rights for men and women. But what I hear from many of them seems to dispute the claim. Some of them have been reported as saying that the world would be a better place without men in it. They thus take the position that men are the cause of the problems of the world, and the feminists the cure.

Here's the truth: neither males nor females are perfect. Each gender has shown itself equally capable of making errors in judgement and of acts of crime and corruption, as well as of acts of heroism, integrity, truth, and beauty.

The religious world

Christian pastors say that they are followers of Christ, "the light of the world". Jesus led a simple life and was not materialistic. Jesus was humble, meek, approachable, and always truthful. Many of today's pastors claim to be like him, but in reality they are not. They are arrogant, entitled, and materialistic, and their personal lives cannot always be relied on to bear public scrutiny.

Take televangelist Jimmy Swaggart. He sharply denounced sins like adultery until he himself was found in bed with a prostitute. Bishop Eddie P. Long was accused of secret homosexual interactions by several men.

Gay "rights"

These days homosexual elements are busy campaigning for gay rights. They want to be able to practise their homosexuality without fear of harassment. Yet, even in countries where homosexuality is legal, I've heard stories of gays harassing straight people. The worst one I've heard comes from the WNBA. Some time ago Candice Wiggins quit WNBA basketball. She said she was being bullied by fellow basketballers for being a straight woman in the association. If homosexuals are so jealous of their own rights, shouldn't they be just as concerned about recognising and respecting the rights of others, including those who do not subscribe to their lifestyle?

Common Manifestations of Hypocrisy in Today's World - Part 2

Freedom of speech and politicians

On paper, you can say what you want without fear of being prosecuted. This right extends to print media and social media as well. Politicians everywhere embrace this right---when it suits them(like around election times). Yet, once in office, these very politicians often denounce and even get into conflict with media houses. In my country, for example, government heads more than once threatened media houses because a journalist or radio announcer said something that the Prime Minister didn't like.

How we treat each other

At every funeral, tears are shed for the dead. For many this is accompanied by uncontrolled displays of grief, and eulogies that almost canonise the dead person. I dare style all of this an expression of hypocrisy. It's more than likely done by people who treated the deceased badly in life, who didn't appreciate or get on well with same. If you hated my guts when I was alive, what is the point of bawling your lungs out for me, or making me out to be a saint, now that I'm dead and gone?

Abused women abusing men

I've heard of women who have left abusive men for men who will treat them better, only to abuse these said men. These are guilty of hypocrisy, and they condemn themselves as no better than their abusers.

Unrealistic expectations for a relationship

If you have too many ground rules or dealbreakers when it comes to a romantic relationship, you may be guilty of hypocrisy. You may say that you love the person and are loyal and faithful, but you may really be showing yourself up as selfish and controlling. You may always feel the need to keep the other person 'in line'. Relationships like this often frustrate the other party with the myriad rules to follow to maintain them, and then they end badly. Chris Martin of Coldplay is said to have left his wife Gwyneth Paltrow because he tired of the strict dietary regimen she tried to impose on him.

Another byproduct of unrealistic expectations in relationships is violence. Many men and women have been beaten, sometimes even killed, by a controlling SO with a grocery list of dos and donts. Often the perpetrators are feministic women or men who appear to be respectable in society, such as policemen or even church officials.

Like I said the first time, don't be a hypocrite!
