How strong is your sex drive, on a scale of 1-10?

First off, let me set some foundation:

Wanting to have sex and the pleasure that comes from having sex are too completely different things, even if we assume they must be the same as one precedes the other. No, the sex drive is merely an urge and we would observe considerable benefit by removing such desire. What's funny is that a lot of people say we'd basically kill of the human race, by doing this. Yes and no, we'd decrease the total size of the human race, since a considerable number of people are the direct by-product of the sex drive run amok. But to say that extinguishing human desire for sex would lead to the extinction of the human race as we know it is slightly absurd claim. Most humans still have a desire for offspring, the lack of a sex drive simply means decreasing the likelihood of having children at any given point of potential conception.

Here's a list of all the problems we'd solve, by eliminating rampant human sexual desire:
1) Human trafficking
2) Prostitution
3) Unwanted/orphaned children
4) Machismo and/or overly-aggressive male behavior
5) Female promiscuity
6) STDs (which are the result of people having sex before thinking about the repercussions)
7) Following from number 4, too many unwanted people

In the absence of sexual desire, we would only have sex for the purpose of procreation. Eliminating sexual desire does not eliminate the feeling of orgasm had during sex--that is a separate bodily process, but it is basically impossible to remember what it feels like, so you can't really chase it. There are just so many benefits to getting rid of sexual desire, but for most people, this is basically unthinkable. Their entire lives begin and end with "what do I need to do, in order to satisfy my sexual desires"; everything else flows forward from this one base propensity.

P.S.I was going to say "rape", but a large element of rape is merely control and superiority over the victim (which is an ego thing, not necessarily an element of sexual want). This is also an element of aggressive male behavior, but THAT is moreso predicated on the need to demonstrate dominance for the purpose of securing a mate for sex and the problem comes full circle.

You're ten points are interesting but I disagree with them.

1. Human trafficking: If not sex then we can have people trafficked for other reasons there are other reasons such as forced labor ( slavery ) that would cause people to be trafficked.
2. Prostitution: Why is this a bad thing? As far as I am concerned it should be legalized , regulated and taxed.
3. Unwanted/ orphaned children: Unwanted by whom? May be by some parents perhaps , but there are other that would adopt in heart beat.
4. Machismo/ aggressive behavior: This aggressive behavior is what allowed our species to spread and thrive.
5. Female promiscuity: There are plenty of women out there that want to fuck. That's fine because I want to fuck them. ( yes, women get horny too).
6. STDs:Study a little biology. You could eliminate STD but some other bacteria or virus will evolve to pester us.

Eliminating sexual desire is a pipe - dream. So much of what we do is underlined by sex - you could be a 13 year old boy or a seasoned 40 year old women. Sex drives human behavior in many ways. Why do you think women doll themselves up? Why do you think young guys ht the gym? People want to be attractive to the opposite sex. It might not be sexual desire per say but it is a prelude to sexual activity. Once you hit puberty you want to be attractive to the opposite sex. This is not just vanity but it serves a biology purpose. Do you want to stick your dick in some 300 lbs foul looking women or the nice hot piece of ass with nice skin and a tight rack. Even butt ugly guys will chase after the good looking girl.

Conversely , a women is not going to go out with some unkempt slob who smells like old gym socks. She wants something that looks decent decent.

You have some interesting ideas but they are waaay too far fetched and are beyond the practical reality of human of the human condition. Sexual desire is part of the human condition for better or worse.

Also, there seems to be a puritanical bent to your ideas - as if you come from a background where sexual desire is some how seen as evil or immoral. People have been getting freaky since the dawn of time. STD's are not going to stop that , neither will feminism , metoo or leftists ideology.

I think you need to have more sex bro. Ironically diseases seem to have a mind of their own, some can manipulate the behaviour of their animal host, this encourages the possibility of spreading the disease, I seriously doubt you can eliminate such a maladies from the repertoire of human experience.

Prostitution is as old as time itself, the only occupation that would outdate it would be soldiering, for as long as we have sticks and stones to throw at each other, some of us are going to Solicite sexual favours from others at any given time.

This would be totally unfair, because most women can't reliably orgasm from penetration, but most men can.
You know, non-penetrative activities are beneficial to procreation, because they make penetration easier by lubricating the woman's vagina.

I cannot fully agree with all points but I agree with the basics. If we were able to totally eliminate sexual desire, not only would it have positive repercussion on the entire humanity because we would not think of sex from the second we wake up and we would have a much more creative and relaxed life overall.

As for procreation, the planet could easily support skipping 1 or 2 generations. It would only be beneficial to the planet and humanity in general.

And for those that truly want to have offsprings, there is still artificial insemination that can be used for that sole purpose.

Since now scientists manipulate genes to create custom made humans, it should not be an issue to manipulate the genes in such a way to eliminate the need for sexual desire. It is an idea worth trying for the sake and the benefits of humanity in general.

I don't think you get humans. Male aggression might largely be due to dominance displays, but you know, when I'm going for a chick, I'm not beating the shit out of the nearest guy to show off (even though I totally could). I think violence is more about hierarchy. I mean, it's basically called a dominance hierarchy. But status isn't only about sex. You get more than sex for being at the top of a dominance hierarchy.

Or we can learn how to better manage and control our urges and better understand why some people can’t control theirs so programs can be made to help them.

Make sex laws more strict and handled more effectively so men aren’t falsely accused of rape while guilty rapists don’t walk free.

I don’t think trying to suppress something that is hardwired in us will solve anything. If anything it’ll raise depression and suicide rate. Denying a basic human desire will cause harm.

Even people who enjoy sex don‘t want as many children as possible from sex. So population control is their goal by using contraception.
