What is sex?

The biblical purpose of sex is multifaceted. God has given sex to us as a means of glorifying Him as we fulfill its design for procreation, intimacy, comfort, and physical pleasure. It is a fulfillment of God's created order in marriage between a husband and wife.

Procreation

Gen. 1:28, "And God blessed them; and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'"

Intimacy

Song of Solomon 1:13, "My beloved is to me a pouch of myrrh which lies all night between my breasts."

Song 2:3, "Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. In his shade I took great delight and sat down, and his fruit was sweet to my taste."

Song 2:6, "Let his left hand be under my head and his right hand embrace me."

Song 4:5, "Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle, which feed among the lilies."

Companionship

Song 3:1, "On my bed night after night I sought him whom my soul loves..."

Physical Pleasure

Song 1:2, "May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine."

The sexual relation is only properly expressed in marriage between a husband and wife (1 Cor. 7:2-3). Any sexual contact between unmarried people is sinful since it violates God's design.

Sex isn't an ordinary thing or something just for pleasure. Sex is a soul tie. A soul tie is a spiritual bond that can happen In many ways.. But I'm going to talk about sex. Anytime you hook up, you're joining to that person physically, emotionally and spiritually. When you hook up with someone y'all are 1 not ✌🏾 but 👆🏾 (Mark 10:6-8) and when any of us have sexual intercourse, we have a huge outpouring of dopamine into our brains. It is released when a couple has sex, which makes them want to repeat the sexual act which then allows them to get pregnant and have babies. But for the unmarried kid it makes him want to repeat that sexual act again and again. It is the same hormone that is secreted with addiction to drugs and nicotine.

And when two people have sex, oxytocin is released, which helps bond the relationship

And when it is released during orgasm, it

begins creating an emotional bond - the more sex, the greater the bond. But if you have sex outside of marriage or you constantly have sex with different people.. That's a problem... because you're giving a piece of yourself to everyone and if you do not find a way to break that soul tie.. You're going to have a problem connecting with your soul mate.

To summerize this. Sex is a soul tie and is something God created for husband and wife. And once you hook up with someone you are one with him/her. So to keep it short. Wait till marriage guys... Do not be deceived by what society tells you. Sex is a something serious but this generation makes it seem like it's something just for pleasure and unimportant but it's far from that... It's not easy but still, Trust in God's timing and be strong 💪🏾

Good my take but on this site it falls on deaf ears. As you showed in the Song of Solomon, God is not against sex. In fact in a married relationship I'm thinking most sex is legal except sodomy. Destroying Sodom kind of tells you that. But God's blessings only go with marriage. Once you get divorced the rules change. If you marry a divorced woman/man you are committing adultery. So if you rush into a marriage make sure it is THE one because you don't get a 2nd chance. God will not bless such a union.

Concerning homosexuality: This once brought hell out of heaven on Sodom. Homosexuality is a sin 😅 from the beginning it was a male and a female and the Bible says they shall become one. You need a female and a male to reproduce because that was God's purpose for sex... 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? You are greatly loved by Christ and you were made for so much more. God wants you to have a deeper understanding of the sufficiency of His grace. According to John 6:35 with the bread that He offers, you shall never hunger. With the water that He gives you, you will never thirst. Jesus is the Creator of life and He knows how to truly satisfy our soul. It’s a liberating feeling to know that God knows us intimately. In Christ there is satisfaction, forgiveness, and the power to have triumph over this. And if you are struggling with same-sex desires know that God’s grace is so profound. In Christ you have ultimate eternal satisfaction. In Christ there is victory over the distortion of worship. If you are someone who is not a Christian and you identify as a homosexual my hope is that you see the marvelous beauty of the gospel of Christ. Jesus in His love for you lived the life that you and I couldn’t. He bore your sins, your burdens, your struggles, and your feelings of inadequacy. He took it upon Himself dying the death that we deserve so that we could be reconciled to the Father and experience such great love and forgiveness. But people are born gay and it has been proven from times to times that sexual orientation (gay/straight/bi/pan...) cannot be changed. and by the way if you believe that God creates mankind, would you say he made a mistake when he creates gay people (because again, it has been proven that sexuality can't be changed and straight is not the default). And plus the world is overpopulated which leads to poverty, low quality of life and hunger, would you say it's his purpose to create more and more babies in countries where poverty is an issue so that babies can die due to lack of healthcare?

There are many scientific proofs that people aren't born gay. This is a very controversial issue. But God doesn't make mistakes (Psalms 18:30) But I personally don't believe that God brings someone in the world with a sin he finds an "abomination" 1. Leviticus 18:22-24 “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination. Also you shall not have intercourse with any animal to be defiled with it, nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion. Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled.” But still some may say they were born this way, this is why Jesus says you must be BORN AGAIN. Bible says For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) so we're all sinners according to the Bible but that's why we need to be born again. Being born again is a spiritual rebirth, it takes us from being dead towards God (because sinners are spiritually dead) to being alive alive towards God. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). And please do not twist my words. You need a male and a female to reproduce. Whether that leads to poverty isn't the case, that doesn't justify homosexuality my sister. And poverty, low quality life are situations that are bound to happen. Jesus warned us already about what is to come.

i never said we don't need men and women to reproduce, what I'm questioning is if it is God's will when a baby is born, then why does he choose to create humans and put them in poverty or just for them to die in matters of days or hours? And to be precise, being born into poverty was never an option. Given the polarized nature of the discussion among national leaders, it would be logical to think that the public opinions must be equally divided. On the one hand, religious conservatives argue that being homosexual is a choice. On the other, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and at least a few experts counter that sexual orientation is immutable, something that we are born with. But what if a person wasn't born gay but they were meant to develop their sexuality when they grow up and nothing we do can have an impact on it? I can give you many examples of children being born and raised religious hetero neighbourhood and later in life came out as gay, the few of them are famous conversion therapists quitting their career because it is harmful and misleading. And as you said god don't make mistakes so why does he create gay people? And as we all know, God don't hate, so why would he put gay people in hell since he doesn't HATE? Don't you think that God loves everyone and it should be up to God to judge someone (which mean neither you or me or other people) because of their sexuality? And for the gay people who are leading a happy successful life, can you say that God is punishing them already for being gay? For all the gay people who have been put through conversion therapy with the effort to change their sexuality, or were in denial/rejection of their gayness, who are now living a much happier gay life, do you think God is now punishing them?

It is not God's will for people to live in poverty. Absolutely not. But this is the result of when people turn their backs on him and choose to be their own "god " when you harden your heart against God and choose to live in sin this is what happens. This is why there's so much evil in this world. And God is just sitting back watching everything happen its just a matter of time before his great wrath will be poured on earth on the wicked. And homosexuality is also a temptation and a spirit. If you don't have God in your life that spirit is bound to enter into your life, and temptation comes and if you give into it it becomes a sin. And when you continue to give into that sin then you're a slave to it aka slave to sin. Homosexuality can also be a generational curse, that only through Jesus you can break it. Again you don't come into the world as a "gay" child, There is no such thing as being born gay, you are not born with a sexuality, you choose one. Even the way you live your life, the people you're around effect your lifestyle. And 2 God is a God of love, but also of Justice. And his name will not be mocked. Yes he doesn't hate But God hates sin. He doesn't hate the sinner but the sin. God doesn't want you to go to hell if he wanted that he wouldn't have send his Son for our salvation. "A proud look" How is that movement called again? Oh yes lgbtq PRIDE. God created the rainbow as a promise to never float the earth again, and what did the homosexuals do? They turned it into a bad thing and used it to celebrate their sin and are also boastful about it... this is mockery and blasphemy. Isaiah 3:9 For the look on their faces bears witness against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves. Proverbs 11:2-3 (KJV) When "pride" cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. Again God's name will not be mocked. And just because they're living a happy life doesn't justify their sin. Even murderers, pedofiles, witches, molesters are living their "happy life" but that doesn't justify their sin. The thing is very simple my sister. Matthew 12:30-32 (KJV) He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Heaven and hell are real places. God and Satan exist. It's up to you to choose which road you want to follow. God or Satan. Righteousness or unrighteousness. This is a spiritual warfare. And we can't live our lives withouth judging. The same way there's good judgment there's also bad judgment. Jesus gave us followers of Christ the right to judge. And warned to not judge hypocritical judgment and judgment by appearance. But he told us to judge righteous judgment. Which is to correct and rebuke using the Word of God, to warn people about their sins. Proverbs 27:5-6 (KJV) Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Just because I'm warning people about their sins, doesn't make me hateful. And once you turn your heart against God, you blaspheme the holy spirit which is the unforgivable sin. And God's judgment hasn't come yet, and trust me it will be much more scary. But if you care so much about what He thinks read the Bible.

And for the gay people who lives a happy and successful life while still being very gay, does that look like God is punishing them? Ok then sorry I got it wrong. And I just answered that question. I guess your question is if God exist why does he allow evil? 1) God could change everyone’s personality so that they cannot sin. This would also mean that we would not have a free will. We would not be able to choose right or wrong because we would be “programmed” to only do right. Had God chosen to do this, there would be no meaningful relationships between Him and His creation. Instead, God made Adam and Eve innocent but with the ability to choose good or evil. Because of this, they could respond to His love and trust Him or choose to disobey. They chose to disobey. Because we live in a real world where we can choose our actions but not their consequences, their sin affected those who came after them (us). Similarly, our decisions to sin have an impact on us and those around us and those who will come after us. 2) God could compensate for people’s evil actions through supernatural intervention 100 percent of the time. God would stop a drunk driver from causing an automobile accident. God would stop a lazy construction worker from doing a substandard job on a house that would later cause grief to the homeowners. God would stop a father who is addicted to drugs or alcohol from doing any harm to his wife, children, or extended family. God would stop gunmen from robbing convenience stores. God would stop high school bullies from tormenting the brainy kids. God would stop thieves from shoplifting. And, yes, God would stop terrorists from flying airplanes into buildings.

While this solution sounds attractive, it would lose its attractiveness as soon as God’s intervention infringed on something we wanted to do. We want God to prevent horribly evil actions, but we are willing to let “lesser-evil” actions slide—not realizing that those “lesser-evil” actions are what usually lead to the “greater-evil” actions. Should God only stop actual sexual affairs, or should He also block our access to pornography or end any inappropriate, but not yet sexual, relationships? Should God stop “true” thieves, or should He also stop us from cheating on our taxes? Should God only stop murder, or should He also stop the “lesser-evil” actions done to people that lead them to commit murder? Should God only stop acts of terrorism, or should He also stop the indoctrination that transformed a person into a terrorist?

3) Another choice would be for God to judge and remove those who choose to commit evil acts. The problem with this possibility is that there would be no one left, for God would have to remove us all. We all sin and commit evil acts (Romans 3:23; Ecclesiastes 7:20; 1 John 1:8). While some people are more evil than others, where would God draw the line? Ultimately, all evil causes harm to others. Instead of these options, God has chosen to create a “real” world in which real choices have real consequences. In this real world of ours, our actions affect others. Because of Adam’s choice to sin, the world now lives under the curse, and we are all born with a sin nature (Romans 5:12). There will one day come a time when God will judge the sin in this world and make all things new, but He is purposely “delaying” in order to allow more time for people to repent so that He will not need to condemn them (2 Peter 3:9). Until then, He IS concerned about evil. When He created the Old Testament laws, the goal was to discourage and punish evil. He judges nations and rulers who disregard justice and pursue evil. Likewise, in the New Testament, God states that it is the government’s responsibility to provide justice in order to protect the innocent from evil (Romans 13). He also promises severe consequences for those who commit evil acts, especially against the "innocent" (Mark 9:36-42).

In summary, we live in a real world where our good and evil actions have direct consequences and indirect consequences upon us and those around us. God’s desire is that for all of our sakes we would obey Him that it might be well with us (Deuteronomy 5:29). Instead, what happens is that we choose our own way, and then we blame God for not doing anything about it. Such is the heart of sinful man. But Jesus came to change men’s hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit, and He does this for those who will turn from evil and call on Him to save them from their sin and its consequences (2 Corinthians 5:17). God does prevent and restrain some acts of evil. This world would be MUCH WORSE were God not restraining evil. At the same time, God has given us the ability to choose good and evil, and when we choose evil, He allows us, and those around us, to suffer the consequences of evil. Rather than blaming God and questioning God on why He does not prevent all evil, we should be about the business of proclaiming the cure for evil and its consequences—Jesus Christ! And no I don't get to decide who's God's child or not. But the Bible says we shall know them by their fruits. So if the way they live their life doesn't align with the word of God then we got a problem 🤷🏾‍♀️ but we can all be children of God.

Jesus christ is a judge he came as a Savior to save us from sin. Sin is anything that is contrary to the law of God, and homosexuality is against the law of God is breaking the coda of God. And it's like if you keep pushing that and teaching that what you're gonna discover is life, the community, everything that is good is gonna fall down and destroy, and that's why God sent his apostles his evensgelist to preach the truth so that you can be saved. You can be saved from your sin. You can be free from homosexuality. And all I want say is this God loves you so much you don't even know! You're his precious creation, He wants to save you from any sin you could be going through. Ok first of all, so far i am not convinced by 70% of the things you said, especially when it comes down to sexuality. But i guess non religious and religious folks aren’t on the same ground. Let’s just say i respect your religion even though i don’t necessary agree on the things they’re preaching. Indeed, it encourages such union. I mean we can sit here and argue the validity of a book written by white dudes in the 1500s. But most Catholics including the Pope believe birth control is a sin. Catholic missionaries are not permitted to distribute condoms even in countries where a fairly large percentage of the adult population has HIV. They point to the fable of Onan. He spilt his seed on the ground (either through masturbating or using the pull out method). Hell onanism is what doctors called masturbation when they still thought rubbing one out would make you deaf, dumb, and blind. I'm so ready for this conversation! Yes we can sit here and have a reasonable conversation about how the Bible came into being, but what I'm not going to do is "argue". It's not even about what catholics or other Christian denominations believe, what matters is what the Bible says. However I kind of agree with catholics on this one, because the world uses birth control to attempt to take away God's authority in their lives. But using birth control, and condoms out of marriage it's definitely a sin. The second passage has to do with the Old Testament law of levirate marriage (Deuteronomy 25:5-10). If a man died childless, his brother or nearest relative was expected to marry his widow and father a child to carry on the deceased's name and inherit his property. (These Old Testament laws do not apply to Christians.) Onan refused to fulfill that duty and used a birth control method known as coitus interruptus to prevent pregnancy: Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brother's wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother." But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also. (Genesis 38:8-10) Most experts say Onan was condemned for using his brother's widow for sexual pleasure while refusing to provide offspring for him, and that no general criticism of birth control was intended. The Bible gives clear, direct guidance on many topics of morality, but not on birth control. Thus, any inferences from the Bible are opinions and not Biblical evidence. And please show me the Bible scriptures that advocate genocide and slavery.

@jpipes First of all, we, as humans, assume that death is an inherently evil thing. God does not see it that way. Sin is evil. Rebellion against God is evil. Selfishness, greed, sexual immorality and violence as well are all evil. However, physical death is not evil. From Gods perspective, the death of a human being is not an end but a transition. Death is not inherently evil because it is not the end for a being with a soul. It is difficult for us to understand, but it is not inherently evil for the lives of the Canaanites to be ended, even in warfare. It is sinful to take a life in anger or out of selfishness or greed, but to take a life because one was commanded to do so by God is not sinful.

Having said that, it is not reasonable to deduce that it is just fine for us to go around killing people. Far from it. However, it is not an absolute that the taking of a life is evil. Consider the situation in Canaanat the time the Israelites were about to enter to take possession of it. The religious practices of the Canaanites were absolutely despicable. Worship of Chemosh included “sacrificing” of babies in the fire. Other gods were worshipped by performing sex acts with prostitutes in the temples. There was essentially zero chance of anyone raised in such a culture to become a righteous person or to end up with God for eternity. Such cultures were abominable in Gods sight. As bad as things seem to us in our own cultures today, Canaanin the fifteenth millennium BC was worse. Gods justice and his love can at times appear to those who do not understand him to be in contradiction. In the case of Canaan, both his justice and his love dictated that something radical be done. We do not have the right to judge or take vengeance. Period. “Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for Gods wrath, for it is written: it is mine to avenge; I will repay?” (Romans 12:19) But God does have that right. To quote Hebrews 10:30-31 (which is in the New Testament, by the way) “Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge His people. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of a living God.

Slavery was also used to pay debts< so it wasn't forced slavery, and they were under an oat to serve their master for 7 years. Also, slavery wasn't "racist" or for a particular race. And the Bible wasn't written by "white men". That was an image they tried to force on us. And did you know the the chosen tribe of God (Israelites) were black? 🤔

Lies. We also have things written in papyrus in museums, and the dead sea scrolls which is the old testament we have today. And, we have the early church that has other writings that confirm the writings of the Bible, And the new testament that is part of the Canon. At the end of the day, God loves you so much you don't even know! You're his precious creation, He wants to save you from any sin you could be going through. That includes adultery, fornication, sexual immorality, filthy talk, crude joking, whoremongers, defiling the body (masturbation), homosexuality, impurity, tempting others sexually, inordinate passions, corrupt language (cursing) effeminate, pornography, vulgar... The list goes on. I do this because I don't want anyone to go to hell, my heart aches just thinking about it. Repent and turn to Christ before it's too late ♥️ You don't even have to change before you go to Jesus, going to Jesus is what changes you! (Luke 15:11-32)

The problem is, marriage is an absolute raw deal for men. Men stand to lose everything from divorce. Not to mention, laws such as the duluth model (which is used in all 50 states) pretty much criminalize men that end up in abusive relationships. So if they end up getting married, and the woman abuses them, the man will be treated as the aggressor. And if a divorce happens, the man will lose everything.

I've heard story after story of men losing everything after marriage.

In my humble opinion, I believe it all depends on the partner you married and for how long you knew them before you married them. For example, there are people who move in with their partner before marriage and according to some research those people are most likely to get a divorce. Another reason divorce is very common is because people don't put God in the center of the relationship, or they're unequally yoked. People nowadays do not take marriage seriously... It's sad

You're welcome, thanks for being receptive. But what about situations in which the man marries a woman and she becomes abusive during the marriage? There are a lot of cases where the wife becomes abusive during marriage and very controlling and because of anti-male legislation such as the duluth model, men that are abused will just get treated as the aggressor. And like I said earlier, if a divorce happens, even if he's in the right, she can get his house, his car, everything. Putting that into perspective can you see why many men are hesitant to marry?

I'm not religious (I'm agnostic/atheist) but I am inclined to somewhat agree with Christians that some of our problems may have been a result from turning away from Christianity. One of the side effects of our society turning its back on Christianity was pickup culture, which could easily be attributed to things like single motherhood/men growing up with out father figures, the eventual destruction of the nuclear family, etc.

I don't know how someone can be abusive during marriage, but if that's the case maybe she might be struggling with an internal battle, but it's still not right to take her anger out on her partner. Instead they should sit down and talk about it. This is the main reason why I said it's important you know your partner extremely well before you take the big step to marriage. If the girl is a REAL Christian she can't be abusive to her husband because in the Bible, wives are called to submit to their husbands. And the husband is the head of the wife and the leader. So a lady acting abusive or controlling towards her husband is unbiblical and not right. Plus there are ways you can protect yourself from your spouse's financial malice. So yes I understand why they're hasitant to marry... But again my assertions come from a Christian perspective, so again I believe when Christ isn't in the relationship, situations like these are bound to happen...
