So does this make the father "feminine"?

My argument for ditching the words "masculine/masculinity" and "feminine/femininity" (and I cannot be convinced otherwise, so don't even try. I'll skip if you attempt to). And that's just one of 100 real world examples. I could write a book about it but I'm not a book person at all.

Yeah, nah, I don't understand and I don't want to understand. Some say ignorance (or in some cases obliviousness) is a bliss and this is one of these cases I intend to keep.

I kept mentioning "No such things as masculinity and femininity". And I'll keep at it.

  • So years ago when I was married my wife wanted to get these hair braids in her hair we're at a carnival and she asked me to watch how they were doing it so I would be able to do it for her at home. So I paid attention to what they did I was able to reproduce what I learned watching somebody else do it for her hair. Now does that make me feminine I don't think so. But what people do in their own home is their own business I've always said that whether they are helping their daughter with their hair or even cross-dressing it's their business what they do they're not hurting nobody else and if Dad's able to do that he probably wants the YouTube video on how to do it and you never know there might not be a wife around to do it.

    • Though, even if there is a wife around why not do it to bond with your daughter?

  • Uh, it's not about whether there are such things. It's that most people such at crafting definitions and/or using them. So you end up with words that are misused/abused. When I was a kid this was way less common since most people were well read (enough) to have a large vocabulary. Actually vocabulary is shrinking and meanings becoming more ambiguous I'd say.

    • *most people suck

    • Yeah and all they know are useless internet terms like "simp", "cuck", "karen". Its like they formed their degenerate language and vocabulary.

    • And authors who once used better words, now only use four letter words writing prose -- anything goes~

  • Okay I asked the question about a dad washing the kids hair some months back. I think we all agreed that wasn't “feminine”. But this dying hair and curling hair is a bit much UNLESS he’s a barber (the masculine version of a hair stylist). Painting nails is just feminine in general

    • It's starting to be popular with guys where I live. My brother gets his nails done with his friends.

    • @GreatBigCircles i only know of goth/emo and cali dudes who do that. Either way, i dont care to be around it

  • Not at all feminine. He's doing his daughter's hair.

    • I have met quite a few straight hairstylists. They probably met a lot of women that way come to think of it.

  • For Family there's nothing called Masculine or Feminine

  • Absolutely not.

  • A father should be able to do everything his daughter might ask of him, and he should impart upon her all life skills that she needs to know, including how to fieldstrip a Glock, how to cook, disable an attacker, engage effectively with knife, baton, spear and sword, how to adjust for weather, windage, and drop coefficient, and when to use the Anzio and when to use the Intervention.

After that, blow-drying hair is child's play. No pun intended.

  • you dont need to change your opinion but its cute how you decided nothing can change your mind. that is called closed minded.

    • oh and if you won't change how can you even expect other people to change to "ditch" those words

  • Don't see any feminine thing on the video. A man (her Dad) who is probably working as a hair stylist made a kid's hair dyed. So, where is the femininity in that?

  • It is a man doing what needs to be done and so is being manly. (snuck masculinity in there anyway and you didn't ban that word :) )

    • Fair enough

    • Thanks for the tolerance :)

  • No it makes him appear more caring.

  • Yeah
    Braids are ugly too

  • Its called being a parent. Taking care of your kids no matter the kids gender or your own is a must for all parents.

  • He seems like a really great dad. Who cares what we think lol

  • noo not at all.

  • Nope. It makes him a dad.

  • Mostly no, but in a way, yeah, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

  • That’s just great parenting. I don’t think this idea getting called feminine is not nearly as prevalent, though. I don’t know any other dads that would shame this dad for being feminine.

  • No it makes him more of a man imho,

  • No that's not being feminine that's being a dad caring for his child.

  • Never he şs cute
