There have been many questions and comments on GaG about the effectiveness of various birth control methods.
The attached picture shows some important information for various methods, especially noting the difference between ideal perfect use and realistic typical use.
The chart doesn't mention the pull-out method (coitus interruptus) that many use. Other sources say that is, at best, 50% effective in realistic use. If it were on the chart, the number would be 500 in the Typical Use column.
What does all this mean?
Have sex and use whatever method you want ... and be aware that, whatever method you use, pregnancy is always possible.
