I have been visiting this website fairly regularly since last October (2014). There are a lot of things that I have noticed about the questions posted here. Most prominent among those things is how frequently people post about their penis, or ask if they are "normal." There are many posts that I have seen that seem to be people seeking attention. But there are others that are genuinely seeking honest opinions.

In the age of the internet this information is widely accessible. However, I understand that many people enjoy learning and discussing this topic while interacting with others. Reading stats and information on some website can be informative, but is usually rather dull.

Based upon all of this I have decided to try to bring information and statistics from across the internet into this post. This hopefully will offer some solid, reliable information and create an environment for open discussion that is enjoyable.

Summary and Closing Thoughts:

  • According to the brief research that I conducted an average penis is approximately 5.6 inches (14.2 centimeters) long and 4.8 inches (12.2 cm) in girth. This is average.
  • In my own experience women tend to exaggerate the size of penises they have seen. Ladies, please refrain from commenting on the exact size of a guys penis unless you measure it. You may be unknowingly perpetrating unrealistic standards for men.
  • Guys and Girls: When measuring a penis there is a way that is the industry standard.--(1) Start off by measuring the length of your penis. All you need to do is use a ruler or measuring tape. Position the ruler or measuring tape at the base of your penis (where it attaches to your body on top of the shaft - make sure to press into the pubic bone as far as you can because fat can actually hide the length of your penis). Measure your penis length by marking how long it is from the base all the way to the end of the tip. Write down this number and label it penis length. (2) Measure Penis Girth - Now you will be measuring around your penis, basically figuring out its circumference/thickness, or penis girth. For this step, you need to use a piece of string (or something similar) or a soft measuring tape. Gently wrap the string one time around the thickest part of the shaft/body of your erect penis (yes, it still needs to be erect!). In conclusion, Penis size is usually not something to worry about. Most men are normal or "average." Be confident with what you have and don't let a number dictate how you feel about yourself.

    • While I definitely agree with you, how men do it is more important than what they have. It is an important and sensitive subject for some because it is not something that can be changed, it is something men are born with and have to deal with and yet is perceived as something very important probably due to p*rn , movies, and high standards that are sometimes set. It can be rough ya know /: but keep on keeping on because men need to realize its not a freaking huge deal. Everyone is different. But I digress... Have a good Thursday.

  • I studied about it couple of years ago and I agree completely with it. Whenever I opine on such questions that "you are average" they won't believe it because of P*rnography and overexpectations.

  • In reply to your update... The worlds avg. is specifically 5.16"L and 4.6" in girth. Excluding the oriental study results the avg. your estimated avg. is pretty close 5.75" is what most say with a 4.7" girth.

    Women only know what they have had and even that can be misleading if the girl hasn't had sex in a while. It will look/feel bigger than it is.

    Also most people don't realize condoms are sized by girth and the length doesn't matter.

    snugger condoms are 7"L+/-, 47<50mm width
    regular are 7.5"L+/- , 52<54mm width
    with large condoms 7.5<8"L +/-, 54mm<69mm width

    . Not much difference in length but a big difference in girth.

Use a penis health creme called Man1 Man Oil to ensure that your member is getting those essential vitamins and nutrients that will keep your penis really healthy.   • Nice article. I have noticed a lot of confusion regarding penis size on this site. I only see a few points I may be able to add to.

    I don't think there is an industry standard on measuring length. From what I understand in some studies the ruler was brought to where the stomach begins and in others the ruler was pressed to the bone (effectively adding theoretical or potential length). Also certain studies where either self measured (self reported) or measured by a technician. When measured by another person I believe the length tended to drop about 1/2" to 1". That's partly why certain studies have longer results. Also certain studies were measured by stretching a flaccid penis which I think can make results even lower.

    The last point I noticed is I think on certain studies girth was measured around the center of the penis rather than the thickest part, but I'm not sure about that.

    • The ruler pressed against the pubic bone (BPEL) is the standard measuring method, because it negates any body fat variations between the subjects. Bone Pressed Erect Length is also what the girl is getting during enthusiastic intercourse. Most of the newer studies measure girth around the thickest part. The old Kinsler study is inaccurate because the men were self measuring/reporting their sizes that is why it say the average was 6.2" not the 5.17" that it really is.

    • @NJ_Casanova I understand and agree that pressing the ruler to the bone will help get an average male size, minimizing the effect of body fat, and that makes a lot of sense when trying to understand the species. I do think that number will not accurately represent average effective penis size though. That's true if the guy presses hard he can overcome some of the fat but I don't think the effect of the length would be the same as without the fat. Either way though, I have heard that the way the studies measure can vary (I didn't read what I wrote earlier if I said that already). I'm guessing you mean that big study with like 15,000 people that lead to around 5" results was done with pressing the ruler. That's interesting to know. I never measured pressed and I'm not totally sure how much that would add. I appreciate the information :) I wonder if non pressed is really more like 4.5" to 4.75"? :o

    • I find it more difficult to get an accurate "Non-pressed" measurement because I have more of a slope at the base and would need to measure far away to get to the flat area.     I haven't measure mine since 8th grade lol! it was like 5" back then and i could care less what it is now!
    If it was something i could control i would be working on it, by genetics dictate my size so i dont worry about it!

    • True, I think that is why most say average is 5-6" instead of putting themselves on the spot with an exact#. I think his girth average is a little high from the studies I've seen, it's a narrower range 4.6-4.8". If they took the study for that country and multiplied their average x the # of adult males and then used it that way, then the world average would be more accurate. I think most use the average for their country.

  • these charts girls prefs my size is not there that is why I think girls like big penissize (bigger than mine) also girl say it doesn't matter but they haven't heard the size and there's many other reasons I think when girls say you should worry it sounds dumb cuz all girls say they need more girth and thicker penis look better
