What does it mean when a good guy FRIEND grabs your butt?

Me and one of my best guy friends flirt quite a lot (innocently) and I admit a little while before this I was sending mixed messages, but I was talking to one of my friends, and he gets up behind me, and I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking, ok the there isn't a lot of room for him, so I just stepped over to the side. And when he comes up behind me again, I just ignore him and keep talking to my friend. The next thing I know, his two hands are on my butt! I felt like slapping him, but I didn't want to make a scene (we were in church) so I just gave him a dirty look and walked off. Not to toot my own horn, but I have quite a large butt, and I admit that maybe I was going I little heavy with the flirting, but at the same time, he's always the one sitting so close, to me, and hugging me, and touching me, but I wonder, what exactly does it mean when a guy grabs your butt? Also, he once told me he's not that the kind of guy who does stuff like that. Later on I did confront him about it, and he said "oh" like I really hurt his feelings, I almost felt bad, but I didn't, cause nobody told you to be getting all up in my grill in the first place!
