I don't see why you need to shave just 'cause you're going without panties. There's nothing wrong with pubic hair. All you need to do is trim around the edges a little. Once you start shaving you're prone to getting razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and the area is more prone to infection.
Don't go commando. Women who do that disgrace the female race! That's why a lot of men don't have respect for women!
But to answer your question... do shave. You'll feel the breeze tingle on your skin. If you're going commando at home by yourself, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, speaking from experience its much more uncomfortable since there is no pubic hair to get caught or tangled on anything. Not to mention when its hot and sweaty hair gets so gross sometimes.
