1) If they are involved in a "sting" operation, much like you would see on Dateline where they are lured in by using consenting minors to have sex, I think they should be treated. Remember pedophilia is a mental condition, this is something they battle with internally all their life. If you were forbidden to have sex to what you were psychologically attracted to, but had a once in a lifetime chance, wouldn't you take it?
2) In the case of non consensual molestation, they should be imprisoned. Killed? hmm... seems a bit extreme to me... but to be honest, I personally do not believe in an afterlife, I believe once you die that is it, all your senses are gone and you would not care about being dead, it wouldn't be a huge deal. What would be more consequential in my view is rot away in prison for the rest of your life, this is why I oppose the death penalty, it's the easy way out. But for those who are religious, wouldn't it be more excruciating to rot away in prison for the rest of your life and then be sent to "hell" for all eternity?

It is extreme, I guess I was a little confusing in my words. I just feel that death is the easy way out, you're not going to worry about being dead when you're dead, it will just be the same as all the billions of year you never existed, I personally feel rotting away in prison without the possibility of parole is a larger punishment.
First off, we need to not group all 'child pedophiles' in one category.
Most people who are in the justice system or on sex offender registries had nominally consensual sex with post pubescent but legally underage teens. I'm not saying that's fine. I'm saying that having sex with a 15 year old who wanted to is not the same as raping young children.
Second, I suspect some difference needs to be drawn between the child-befrienders who seem to think what they're doing is okay, and those who are violent. We may consider the abhorrence of their crimes similar, but I think the treatment outcomes and underlying paraphilias are different. The former group are often intellectually stunted themselves. The latter have a wildly out of control and horrible compulsion.
Should they be killed/ Some of the worst, I'd be delighted to.
But more realistically, the most obvious, dangerous and unable to control themselves offenders should probably be physically castrated, which really is the only effective treatment we have.

No because its an unfortunate disorder that we out to seek ways to reduce the strength of. Not everyone who is attracted to children acts on their urges and we should aim to help those control their urges, not just kill anyone who likes kids in that way. If someone does commit the crime they should serve their sentence and during which be rehabilitated.

I agree with the overall basis of your post. I think the death penalty is an easy out. Most people that commit these crimes don't care about living or dying anyway. Hall if them do it with the mindset of getting the death penalty so why give they essentially want? I say lock them in a solitary confinement for the rest of their lives.

Well many pedophiles do NOT act on their desires. Pedophilia is a sexual anomaly; pedophiles have different structures in the brain, and usually have low IQs and poor impulse control. As disgusting as it is, it is a legitimate illness. If a pedophile refrains from acting on their desires they should not be punished.
A pedophile who does, should be imprisoned and/or put in a mental institution, but I don't believe in killing someone for any crime other than murder.

No, they should be treated because they have a disorder. There's a difference between being a pedophile and being a child molestor, a lot of people with those urges are facing an uphill battle against them. That's like saying we should kill people for being schizophrenic or for having depression.
I've been diagnosed with both those disorders (schizophrenia and depression, schizoaffective - actually) and let me tell you: it is nothing akin to being a paedophile. I resent the comparison.
