Slept with my brother's wife, now she is pregnant. What to do?

Question

My brother's wife and him were trying for a baby for many years but were unable to conceive. A few months ago, I was hosting a pool party and my brother and his wife were in town to visit. My brother left home early and his wife decided to stay at my place. After everyone left, my bro's wife and I were drinking wine, flirted with each other, and touched each other in the pool. One thing led to the next, we slept. A few months later, she is now pregnant with my child, and only she and I know about this. My brother is very excited to be the father. My brother's wife knows that I am the father and wants to keep the baby since she was unable to conceive from my brother.  

I do not think I should tell my brother about this because I do not want to ruin my brother's fatherhood dream and relationship.

In all seriousness though, telling him at this point would be more so to clear your own conscience than his. But I do think it's risky with this kind of secrecy because of the possibilities of him finding out much much later, once he's already raised the child as his own.

In your post you didn't mention anything about your emotions going through this process - I can imagine you're overwhelmed and possibly remorseful of your actions? Perhaps speaking with a trained professional would help you, as he or she would be legally obligated to keep the secrecy of the child if that is what you choose to do.

What happens when the child has some medical emergency? Or heavens forbid, needed a transplant and both parents were tested and it emerged that your brother wasn't the father. There wouldn't be a fan big enough to cope with that amount of sh*t !

Just tell him. Even it is just to clear your own conscience. This is the type of situation that will always be found out eventually, even if you two are related. Who knows, the kid might have features that are distinctly yours.

This reminds me of a drama show in TV. :P Just don't tell him it's your baby. Both of you have the same DNA anyways. Just hope that the baby would look a bit like your brother. :/
