Whats the difference between a hooker and a whore? Other than money?

They both like sex, I would assume, so whats the difference between the two. Other than the obvious, although I think some could argue that u still pay for it with a whore too! I would think. Right? But anyhow I really honestly can't find any distinction between the two right now!

Ok I need to update this, I am talking about a hooker who has no pimp, and she is not forced into having sex, but she chooses to have sex for money of her own accord. Like a freelancer so to speak!

  • A hooker is essentially someone you pay for sex. A whore is someone who sleeps with numerous people generally with a disregard for their own bodies as well as the emotions of the people who they sleep with. A hooker is not necessarily a whore. For example a hooker may only sleep with 2 or 3 people on a consistent basis and get paid, whereas a whore has already slept with many people. A hooker can be a whore but doesn't have to be and not every whore is a hooker.

    • A hooker IS necessarily a whore, because "whore" means "prostitute". "Whore" is often misused as an insult to women who aren't prostitutes.

  • The hooker may or may not be in it for sex. Sometimes, they're enslaved against their will into that life. A whore just takes what she wants, and will go to great lengths to get what she wants. A hooker need not be committed to anyone (it'd be self-defeating, apart from her pimp.) But a whore almost by definition will get a committed partner and then cheat.

    • ok the hookers I am speaking of, do it of their own accord and don't have a pimp. Yeah ur right some people are forced into it. But thats not what I was referring to!

  • Whore is an old -fashioned word for prostitute. It gets mis-used a lot in the USA.
    Hooker = street prostitute.

  • In a strict sense they do mean the same thing. However, these terms are most often used out of context and simply means to be condescending. As professionals, there is no difference between a hooker and a whore, yet you should not call them either. Call them escorts or "working girls."
