  • I don't like it, it's sexualizing and objectifying a child. Most grown women don't even wear that much makeup. I have a problem with the media or society in general putting children into these roles. It's the same issue I have with that show "Toddlers in Tiaras." It's just objectifying children at such a young and fragile stage of their lives. I don't even understand how any adults can be okay with things like that.

Speaking from an American point of view (because I don't know what it's like in other countries), it just amazes me how society tries to sexualize children in these ways but then turn around and preach to kids, "don't have sex!" The concept of sex is everywhere though because sex sells. So it's like kids are seeing one thing but then being told that sex is bad at the same time so in all honesty, I can see how this would be confusing for kids. It's just a bad situation all around.

    • oh ok i never heard of that. there is indeed a lot of contradiction regarding childhood sexualisation, i agree, and it is appalling. i actually raised that point as well. i think it's ironic that a government tries to protect children from abuse, violence and exploitation while also allowing the circulation of sexual content in the media... lol, on the daily -.-

    • Yeah, I agree. It's really sad.

  • Looks like a Lolita if ever there was one.

No I do not like it, she is obviously dressed in clothes that are not appropriate and that are supposed to be sexy. High heels and an open front dress? WTF? Who is this girl and which fucked up person thought dressing her like this was Ok? More importantly why are her parents allowing this?

It's messed up and I'm quite shocked it's on a front page.

    • thanks for ur view. yeah it's pretty 'amazing' what our society has come to huh?

    • I don't think the sexualisation of children is a new thing, I'm just very amazed that a magazine published a photo where they have literally dressed a child like a prostitute. Were they having a hard time selling copies?

    • yeah no not really. not at all, it's like a kid's version of vogue, but obviously they're trying to deliver a clear message here.

  • It's just... I can't decide whether it's satire or serious. The expression, the fabrics, the low-cut-ness... but the weirdest to me is her anklets. They look like chains. And that horrifies me.

    • there's a lot going on isn't there? deconstructing this could take hours.

    • Yes seems that way - which class was this for?

    • it's about being a child in contemporary society. so we could choose our own area to study, like race, language, religion, etc. i chose sexuality.

  • Well.. Its obviously a child and society seems to have developed this thing about using children in anything which could be seen as provocative. So think that's quite ridiculous and there's nothing wrong with it unless its forced child porn or something which this isn't.

She's getting paid for it and she isn't being made to do anything she doesn't like and even gets to play with some bunny rabbits.

I wouldn't buy the magazine because of it but I don't think there's anything untoward about it.

    • cool thanks for ur input. yeah so this is like 'child vogue' basically. out of curiosity, do u think the bunnies have some kinda purpose there?

    • They're a symbol for playboy. The whole thing is meant to be controversially sexual. The leopard skin pattern cussions, the cover of the bed pulled back etc.

    • nice, thank u =]

  • Far too young to be sexualized or objectified

    • LOL i love how it's still smiling!

    • The bunnies may symbolizes playboy magazines

    • very good.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • The second I saw it I immediately knew it was a child and it was grotesque to see a child appear this way and it is tragic to see a chlid used this way. What about any lasting psychological effects for having done a photo-op like that to the child, about the self and the self's image? That magazine should be boycotted. The photography company that did the shoot should be boycotted by all other magazines as well.

What has the world come to?

    • i like that u said the child is "used". it's sad that parents and the children themselves dont c it that way. mhmm, all that stuff are definitely side effects. i think the same everyday man. i really do =/ thanks for ur contribution.

    • Don't get me wrong, if young girls want to get together and dress like adults in their mom's attic because they want to roleplay being grown-ups that is one thing, but this isn't the same. You seem to be pretty socially conscious. I'm sure you'll make a great mother some day.

    • Oh yeah nah that's a different story altogether. i completely get u. i am actually lol. i overthink everything in general=/ aww that literally made my day, thank u.

  • It looks so cool. It's not inappropriate but it is glamorous

    • thanks for ur opinion =]

  • 1. You can 'instigate' a debate / argument while a discussion is 'inspired' little lioness :-D
    2. Well I vote 'A'
    3. It's a very tomboyish look (even if that's a male) but a very savvy one. Combined with those rabbits and golden hues it's very beautiful
    4. Seen as an art form it's awesome
    5. Judging with fixations, it'll be called 'media / corporate pedophilia'

  • This reminds me of toddlers and tiaras. I'm opposed to that as well. Just like I oppose that company that came out with thongs for toddlers. Wth!

    • thongs for toddlers? r u freakin serious? oh my god -.-

  • Sure looks like child pornography to me, or at least suggesting it.

  • No, just no. I don't agree that children should model in this way, she's far too young to be sexualised like an adult. This picture is a sexual predator's heaven.

    • thanks for ur input and time.

  • Somewhere out there there's a guy touching himself to this cover and there's nothing Chris Hansen can do about it

    • i know. i feel i may have invoked those feelings in people... but it is unavoidable anyway. sad right?

    • Yep.. Not trying to be rude but I look at her and see Miley Cyrus :S

    • LOL! now i can't unsee that. thanks

  • It's like a girl wore her mom's clothes, make up and shoes and then she was caught.

  • Look at these parents dressing their daughters
up to look all classy and them are little girls
    i don't know what's right or what's wrong all
i know if i was parent i would have to disagree
for a parent to make their 10 year old look like a
Hoochie Mamma totally wrong.. Smh Lol

  • looks ridiculous

    • mhmm. so when do you think it would start looking ok?

    • when the girl was dressed like a girl her age and not made up to look like some underaged call girl

    • alright fair enough. thank u =]

  • i don't like it at all! she is still a kid and should not be sexualized

    • thank u girl.

    • welcomed

  • As a mom of a 10 year old I hate it. Visually it's stunning but the messages behind it are so messed up.

  • It puts a child into an adult's role. To me it isn't offensive, it's just an obvious attempt to attract attention that doesn't work and seems silly. There's nothing to this except poor creative judgment.

    • agreed. thanks.

  • What the hell?

    No... just no

    • O I'll also add that I am agaisnt this kind of thing with kids, both modeling and beauty contents, for their age its stupid, the parents end up getting consumed by it and most of the time the children's, childhoods are destroyed.

    • cool, yeah it's an interesting industry to say the least =/ ooo the button!

    • Go on press it you know you want toooo.

  • It's interesting. I like the bunnies.

It's probably just as well that I didn't have to write that paper.

  • Is that a boy

    • nah it's a girl, her hair's just done up sleek

    • Yes it is, Justin Beiber finally got a sex change.

  • I hâte those who sexualize children...

  • I think the girl is too young for all that makeup & to be posed and dressed up like that.

    • it's my fault, i didn't mention that in the content. sorry =]

    • That's okay. No need to apologize :)
