Why is it nice to smoke after sex?

Now, before you flame me (no pun intended), I don't smoke. I take good care of myself and I eat well and watch my health. Why is it then that I have a desire for a cigarette after sex? Is it just a cliche' from hollywood? Is there something chemical in our brains that it satisfies?
Sometimes afterward, I go to my drawer and get my (very old) pack of cigarettes and have one. Why is that?

I think it's more of a Hollywood cliché from a time when smoking was a widely widely accepted and used vice. A cigarette does have a relaxing effect which may be nice paired with the endorphin release of sex but aside from that I don't think there is any real science to show that there is a beneficial (mental or physical) correlation

OMG, real talk!
I quit smoking 10 years ago.
And I NEVER get cravings when people typically do: after a meal, while drinking, when around other smokers.

But after REALLY good sex, I want one sooooo bad!

Why do you think that is? I don't smoke and I want one. In the country I come from, a lot of people smoke, but I never had the urge to. Why after sex... a mystery...

When I did smoke, and sleep with other smokers, it was the hip equivalent of a cool down after a work out or a rave. Just taking a semi-silent moment to take deep (smokey) breaths, and sigh out the smoke in contemplation of everything that just took place. A moment to reflect together, while the nicotine added a nice momentary buzz. Like a quick drunkenness.

It's from Hollywood. There was a code of regulations for when and what couldn't be a own in screen. Nudity, sex and cuddling were not allowed. So after the implied sex in a movie, you would see them smoke instead of cuddling after sex because it wasn't allowed on film.

I used to smoke, but i never had a cig after sex, but the girl i first slept with smoked in bed with me and it was very sexy, ever since i loved the smell of it

I think its because sex is very active and afterwards having a smoke relaxes you
