Is sex the ultimate human experience?

Is sex the ultimate human experience and an experience every human being on this planet must experience before they die? If they die without having sex then has their life not been worthwhile or complete? Therefore, men espacially who struggle to get sex, older virgins or are unable to attract the opposite gender for sex have a good reason to pay for it to ensure they die happy?

This question is basically the importance of sex and whether it is a vital experience in a persons life. Ie could it be considered the ultimate experience and an experience a man or woman must experience in life

  • No. Sex wasn't designed for fun. Aside from dolphins I'm pretty sure we are the only mammals who do it for pleasure. Really its all for procreation.
Although I love sex I would have to say there are so many other exciting experiences to have before you die. But to each their own.. everyone has their urges I don't think you need to be dying to pay for it. If a guy is having trouble getting laid and there's girls out there who love it enough to do it for a living and get paid for it then why not? Would probably be a better experience going to a proper brothel though rather than picking a girl off the street who's just desperate for cash.

  • What about people who are unable to have sex for physical/mental reasons? Or people aho identify as asexual? What is meaningful and qualifies as the "ultimate human experience" is completely subjective and up to the individual... for some people maybe it is, and for some people it isn't. But there are a lot of other things that make life worth living, it would be a pretty depressing existence if a basic biological urge was all that determined our worth/happiness. To survive and have sex are our basic functions, yes, but the human experience is more than that.

    • Good point.

    • Agreed.

    • I love that you included asexuality. Not everyone wants sex.

  • I don't think that sex is the penultimate in human experiences, but I do think that it is completely acceptable for one consenting adult to pay another consenting adult for sexual relations in a business transaction. Go to the Bunny Ranch!

In places where prostitution is legal, what a man (or woman) decides to do with their time and money is their own damned business; they shouldn't be shamed for doing what they want to do in their own private time.

  • It is a natural drive for the overwhelming number of people, and not getting it can even drive people to insanity and murder, as the Eliot Roger case sadly demonstrated.

That said, we should stop pushing it so much, for that very reason. Freud was right--some drives need to be sublimated to higher purposes.

It is funny how people think Freud was a sexual libertine. Yes, he analyzed sex drives, but he was from the Victorian era, and had he lived longer he would have been horrified at what was eventually done to pop culture in his name.

  • I think love is

    • and not the typical love, not attachment but real love.

    • @ChromAzonyx108 yes, unconditional

  • No. People who usually think that way tend to be incompetent and unequipped in more important ways.

  • I think that achieving complete self-actualization is the ultimate human experience (Google "Abraham Maslow's Heirarchy of Human Needs") and lots of people die without experiencing it.

  • No, sex is not the ultimate human experience. Chocolate is the ultimate human experience. :)

  • Sliding down an almost vertical glacier on your ass and not knowing where the bottom is is better.

  • For me sex hadn't been the ultimate human experience, not even close. I would say being in love has. I would stay with my fiancé even if it was decided we would never have sex again because sex is only a small part of the relationship.

Honestly, if I had to give something up forever, sex would be high on the list, I would rather loose that than things like reading good books, playing an instrument, hiking in the mountains, getting to laugh with my friends, and tons of others.

  • sex is a good experience, but "ultimate" is just a bit too much lol
by the way, you are just reflecting an obsessive culture for sex in the society we live. We live in a society where almost everything revolves around sex.

"If you don't get sex, you are a loser" mentality is the opposite side of the same coin of the "sex is the ultimate human experience" mentality that you are exposing right here. no intention to offend you but that's what i have read hidden in your lines

  • And just look who's ranting now... with a little blockage to highlight inferiority, and cowardice. My comment was directed at whore, and that was clear to anyone with a brain. So, it was actually YOU sticking your nose in someone else's business. If I were directing my comment at you, I'd lead with "shithead". I'll comment however I please... don't like it... suck mile long dick... as per usual. Shithead.

  • Lmao not at all, there's so much more to life than sex, anyone who thinks that having sex automatically makes your life amazing and that you'll "die happy", is putting sex on some crazy pedestal.

  • With how much people talk about, and obsess about sex, I expected more than it was.

It's overrated, and although dying without experiencing it would be unfortunate, is certainly isn't the ultimate human experience.

  • There is no shame in visiting a prostitute. To get experience is a very valid reason. Having had that experience will make you more comfortable and secure when you approach any girl.

    • This is the best shit you've ever said on gag. I just... sorry.., I have to show her this too @staceyzee. Even miss physics agrees with me.

    • @stacyzee

    • I've spoken to this girl before and she actually admits to prostituting , so this is definitely not shocking.

  • I think that love is the ultimate human experience.

  • No...
    Hilariously sad you think so.

  • lol in terms of pleasure, id say yes.

    • not even in terms of pleasure, drugs like cocaine scientifically give to humans more pleasure than sex

    • @Raven1990 lol ok dude.

    • i'm not saying that i do drugs neither approving the use of it though lol

  • Personally I would say no. I think love is the ultimate experience one could experience, and I mean true love, not your bf/gf of 3 months lol

The reason why I think sex isn't because there are people (for example nuns) that happily give up that aspect of life because of their faith and love in God. Similarly, I think there are things that outweigh sex.

  • There are many ways to experience life and it is impossible to compare them because we are talking about subjective phenomena. How can a nun who has been celibate her entire life but has helped countless people in need compare her satisfaction with that of someone who has been happily married and had children? We cannot connect people to a satisfaction meter and measure the extent of their happiness and satisfaction.

Any answer to this question must be based upon assumptions which cannot be proven and, therefore, any suggestion of an "answer is an illusion.

  • I believe that unconditional love is the ultimate human experience

  • If sex is the thing that makes you happy, the only thing that can give your life meaning, you must be a very empty, vacuous person. And I genuinely feel bad for you... I wouldn't want to live like that, :(

  • Not even close.
    Love is.
Not just romantic love... but love of all kinds. Experience life, travel, learn, just live.

  • No it is not. Though it's a very pleasurable experience. ^^

If anything finding the right person is a greater feeling than the sex you have with them.

  • It's really not that big of a deal.
