We all know men are masters of mastrubation and have been doing it ever since they realized they could. And, it's an open matter of discussion, worked it's way into our lexicon, and is often joked about.
On the other hand, it's rarely spoken of about women - it's taboo. And consequently, there's been a stigma attached to it. This has huge implications for Womens rights and the repression of female sexuality, and therefore the repression of women in general. That's no overstatement, Just look in to the ancient, barbaric practice of FGM, that still id thriving today.

FYI:November 2014, the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) launched a competition to find a word to describe female masturbation. “Klittra,” a combination of the words clitoris and glitter, was the frontrunner and it has now been deemed as official.
A spokesperson for the organization said: “Historically, women’s sexuality, and not least female masturbation has been taboo. Women are not expected to have desires and be turned on in the same way as men. . "

A step in the right direction; a recognition and condemnation of what we're frustrated with. A rather clinical word, though like fellatio (an act).
I guess it'll be up to us to develop a good slang word based around it.
