What is gay, is being sexually, emotionally & romantically attracted to someone of the same gender. No particular sex act is "gay". Consider that bisexuals engage in the same acts, yet remain attracted to members of the opposite sex. Furthermore, being a gay man doesn't necessarily mean ever engaging in anal sex. Tastes vary for that act just as among heterosexual individuals.
This means that one can be gay and never "pitch" or "catch". It also means that one can "pitch" or "catch" and still not be gay.
Don't confuse sexual acts with the sexual orientations of people.

If you are having sex with the same sex as yourself then both are gay. Me personally I'm happy to do either but I'm more interested in catching then pitching. I guess people see catching as more feminine because that's more the females role in sex. That what I am assuming anyway.
