I've done it a few times. You just say dirty stuff, like what you would do to the person in they were there. A lot of times you talk as if you were with each other, and go through a scenario of sex together. I suppose it is assumed that when you are chatting, you are usually also masturbating.

I'm not the most fond of it. I almost find it stressful, to talk dirty, and try to make it so that the girl will like it, as I don't know exactly what she likes and turns her on if I just met her right then.

Would probably be better with someone you know and are comfortable with.

Personally if your with somebody your comfortable with you can simply start by telling them explicitly What you want to do with/to them. Role play is always fun, kinda like writing your own sex story with somebody, and it's great to figure out what they like or don't like sexually.
