Why do people rape?

I was sitting in the hospital the other day waiting for my appointment when I noticed pamflets about rape being displayed in the waiting room. I looked at it and the first thought I had was "this thing makes it sound like its my fault if I was raped." It said that rape can be provoked by low cut shirts and reveling clothing as well as inappropriate behavior. While I understand that, yes these thing could be a factor, I honestly doubt that these are the "true" reasons for rape. I'm not saying all men are rapists I'm just saying that the amount of blame shoveled on women when they are raped is rediculus. (I'm not saying that women should be automatically set free, BECAUSE WOMEN RAPE MEN AS WELL and they should not be treated lightly for it either) I'm wondering if the main reasons why people rape is because they want their victims attention (in a good or bad way) and attain it by forced sexual activity.

Yes. It would be wrong to say they are not attractive.

Yes it does.

However the questioning doesn't end without the last and the most important one.

Of course it does.

See the meaning?
To a rapist the dress is of no factor.
The point here is that a rapist sees women only as sex object. And no matter what a woman wears, a rapist will regard her only as an object of sex.

So who do you need to correct here? The woman who has a choice of dress or the rapist whose very thinking has to be changed?
If you think woman, these are the steps:
She can change into some dress more subtle and unnoticeable, but still be prey to such eyes, but those eyes might leave her if it sees some other women.

If you think a rapist, then you are taking away the eye that roams around on the bodies of every women, undressing them mentally regardless of her dress.

Now if you believe a man is provoked into raping a woman, then you need to know this -
" You raped her because her CLOTHES provoked you... I should break your face because your STUPIDITY provokes me

They'd have women standing outside, pickets in hand, screaming blood murder, all the while blocking the emergency entrance and preventing a gunshot victim who is trying to get admitted into the hospital.

Well it sounds far more likely then your scenario.

They have universities that make gender studies mandatory curriculum as well as providing 'safe zones' for women so they can 'feel' secure on campus... and you're trying to tell me you found said pamphlet in a hospital?

I'm calling bullshit on this one.

1. Anger (for instance, hates women and wants to express that hate with violence/rape etc)
2. Power, control.
3. Sadism.
4. Gang rape among young men is usually an expression of hypermasculinity, wanting to "fit in" with the other rapists and express dominance over the victim.
5. Sexual gratification.
6. Opportunistic rape. The rapists sees an opportunity to attack someone. An impulsive decision.
7. Childhood trauma, or any other type of trauma.
8. War rape is a conquest.

Aaaand so on. There's an entire wikipedia page I pulled this from and simply summed up. It pretty much never has to do with clothing or behavior. Rapists rape no matter how you dress and how you behave. But rapists also know that using it as an excuse will get them a lower sentence, by saying stuff like "I thought she wanted it based on how she dressed/teased me", "I thought she was older", "she seemed to enjoy it because she appeared to be that kind of person" etc. The justice system eats these excuses up because of the sexist society we live in, where women are defined by how they dress, not by if they say yes or no.

Depends on the situation. Some people get a kick out of it, bringing a BDSM fantasy out in real life. Some think that with low cut shirts or eye contact the girl has invited them (her mouth says no, her body says yes... I'll go with the body) and some guys seem to think that if a girl 'leads him on' by flirting and kissing, he automatically has the right to go all the way.

I've had a few situations with one guy which lingered on the edge of rape. One time I wanted him to stop during sex and he continued, a few times he was horny and kept trying to persue me to have sex with him and he would have gotten his way if I hadn't pushed him off me multiple times a night. He still touched me without my permission. Reason: but I was really horny and couldn't sleep. Asshole.

Some people get turned on by force... therefore to get full pleasure they must force the person to have sex with them... which becomes "rape"

Others are just sexually deprived for one reason or another, and so they act on sexual urges without doing much to control it...

Some are just crazy psychotic...

most people who are raped are not exposed... It's usually kids, and innocent girls... because people who rape tend to have huge imaginations... and they're more provoked by what they can't see, rather than what they can see.

I can understand that certain clothes will get you some attention. Like unwanted stares or catcalls, but one can just fire back a snarky comment and be done with it.
Rape is never justified and should be punished severly. At the same time I think that women who falsly accuse anyone of rape out of revenge/regrets or whatever, should be punished more severly. They can end careers, break up families and cause a lot of pain. That to me is just as bad.

Because sex is addicting (not that I've done it or anything). Like sex is way addicting than drugs, and we're humans bruh, we'll never be fully satisfied. There's pretty much possibilities why people rape. It could be a terrible childhood, unconciously drunk, and probably they can't take it anymore like they just wanna do it instead of stand by their own morals. Mostly it's because they want to have sex. Rape victims (men and women) wearing revealing clothes is not the real problem obviously. No matter what you wear, revealing or not, you can get raped (I hope you won't) and yea I think it's unfair that people blame the victims more instead of the rapist.

i think everyone is talking way too much about rape, dress modestly and stay in safe enviroments or at least dont go alone where you think rape could happen and it will be fine, the reason girls get raped is cause
: 1- they give hints and make the guy think they want him, then when they refuse he doesn't care cause in his mind you want this and have been giving signs for a while.
2- he has some mental issues so its not anyones fault but his, cause... well he has issues and doesn't function like a normal human being.
3- you live in a place that gives women no rights so raping them is usually the natural thing to do, or the guy is powerful and no one dares to mess with him.
4- you had few drinks, he had few drinks and you had sex but werent fully aware of what you're doing so you get pissed and call it rape.
5- it wasn't rape at all but you wanted money that he refused to give you so you played the rape card knowing its useful sometimes.
6- not stopping a man or telling him anything even though you are shocked that he even thought about having sex with you (its kinda like saying yes so dont if you dont want to)

Can short, reavealing clothes provoke rape? yes indeed if the guy is powerful and no one dres to mess with him, if he has some mental issues, or if he has been thinking that you're sending him signs that you want to have sex with him ( many girls do this then admit they did for fun or attention or for shits a giggles... pathetic tbh and it leads to way more serious issuse )

For some, it is the nature of the beast.
You may find it enlightening to Google 'Muslim pack rape' and the read the news reports that appear.
Whatever the cause, rapists should be put down. Preferably as painfully, slowly and publicly as possible.
Using barbed wire to tie them to a tree and letting the ants have at them comes to mind.

I once saw someone on the Internet say it's about power/dominance/control. Not sure how accurate that is but it seems to me lime it could be the case.

Clothing, behaviour etc might play a part in the perpetrator selecting a victim.

Saying certain things provoke rapists does not mean they are blaming the victim. They could just be giving info to help people avoid becoming victims.
