Which do you prefer, naturally voluptuous, wide hips, thick thighs and a round booty, or skinny stick figure with no bodily shape?

Somewhere within the trajectory of time between WWII and the Cold War, the American fashion industry went from promoting, featuring and celebrating the female form in its most desirable state: healthy, curvy, voluptuous women who had wide hips, thick thighs and shapely, round asses, to promoting, featuring and celebrating malnourished, stick figures with no shape, no curves, flat asses. What's crazy is that men where NEVER asked/consulted about this. Ask most men which body type they prefer, and most will tell you they favor a women who has a curvaceous figure with wide hips, thick thighs, a booty and even dare I say, some cellulite! I feel very indignant about this all, because I have a sister who battled anerexia, thinking that her body type (she was already thin to begin with) wasn't what was beautiful. This whole "thigh gap" thing is freaking disturbing!!! I'm sorry if I offend any skinny girls here. All women are beautiful, I'm just trying to make sense of this all.

  • Worth noting this user has left the site after posting this. So for the benefit of those lured in:

Up until the start of the 20th century, the majority of women WERE thin, wiry stick figures without too much excess meat. People farmed or worked. I've heard it described as everyone being like greyhounds, lean and strong.

Modern agriculture (including transportation and distribution) changed that. Being plump had for centuries been a sign of wealth and (indirectly, since you could afford medical care too) health, and it took a while for that to wear off. The problem is that being slender and strong is what is healthiest, but contemporary food plus contemporary work environments means that now many people sit at work all day and have unlimited access to high-calorie food. That gives you an obesity epidemic.

Here's an article saying even in the 1970s, people weren't that big:

  • Neither.
I don't like voluptuous or "curvy" girls. It's not a body type I find attractive.
I do like skinny girls but not the type you're describing. My girlfriend is Korean and she's got exactly the type of body I like in a girl. She does have very cute, perky breasts and she's also got a hot butt but it's just not as oversized as with some western girls. She's got a petite and "tender" body structure and that's something I really like. Also, she is skinny because she eats very healthy but that's different from being anorexic.

  • i like the curvy look, personally. but as long as her body looks good and healthy, and she has a good face, it doesn't really matter either way :)

  • Why do you have to make the thin woman option sound so unattractive? Jeez. Thin girls can be sexy af too.

    • I should have specified. I'm not generalizing about thin women in daily society. I'm exclusively referring to fashion models who are sickly thin.

    • Ohh, makes sense. My bad then, mate!

  • Hmmmm, I wonder what the QA's preference is... So difficult to tell...

  • Well you can be in the middle and the prob would be solved. Lol

  • Something in between of what you are describing would be my take.
I prefer girls who have a cute look and body, and that means that they are probably petite but not skinny.
Something like Shakira, Selena Gomez or Emma Watson.

  • Curves make an average girl sexier to me than a prettier face with no body.

  • This isn't biased at all lol

  • gimee the thin chicky!

  • I've always been attracted to more full-figured and chubby women, so of course I voted A. I look at a lot of mainstream models and female Hollywood celebrites, and I say to myself "pretty face, but she would look better with 10-15 more pounds". ;-)

  • Lmao I'm attracted to a wide range of body types.

  • i am hourglass with a round ass and it's never helped me in any way because my preferred men don't like anything but thin. the thinner the better. no breast or butt is fine.

  • If there's a vagina in there, I can make it work with either body type.

  • Well why can't I have someone in the middle
And besides there is a thing as really skinny girls that are hot

  • I dunno about u but thigh gaps are indeed bad

  • the not thin girls.

  • a woman with curves, wide hips, thick thighs, round booty and nice, healthy breasts

  • I've always found curvy, voluptuous women far more attractive as their figure is very feminine and great for child bearing too 😉

  • a woman with curves, wide hips, thick thighs, round booty and nice, healthy breasts

  • The way you phrased the question is extremely biased and rude

  • I go gaga for thin girls who can barley fill out a dress
