It is a lifestyle choice basically. In my experience there are many reasons why a couple would decide to be swingers and it is always going to be unique to them. True some of them are going to look at it like a fetish, a way to do something taboo they find exciting and exotic, or it could be as you say and they want to sleep with others while still giving the appearance of being in a monogamous and/or committed relationship. And I have witnessed others just doing it because they enjoy it; the connection with others on an intimate level, but then I've seen others who do it because they have a more sixties mentality of free love, and they have set aside notions of jealousy to simply enjoy life to the fullest in their view and this is their way of doing such. As I said, everyone's going to have their own take on why they do it, but in the end, I just say people do it because that's what makes them the happiest at the time and from my perspective life is way, way, too short to do otherwise. That's my bottom line.

I've never tried it, though I'm not particularly against it depending on who my partner is. I've been with people I wouldn't mind sharing because of the nature of our relationship. I definitely don't think I would want to swing or share my current partner.

Thats what I discovered too. One of my friends parents does it and I asked them how they felt as their daughter and she was fine with it, she grew up in the lifestyle but she said she would never do it but doesn't judge others for wanting to.
