I feel like it's a lot more normal to talk about guys who jack off than girls who play with themselves. I always just thought everyone (male & female) masturbated. I believe it's natural. Recently though I had a conversation with some friends and when the topics of masturbation & porn came up some of them were so quick to say "ew, that's weird/gross" & "oh, I would never do/watch that stuff."

I don't know if it's because they've always had boyfriends and never felt the need to or they're just not comfortable exploring their body & feel weird about it. Or maybe they're lying. I asked then why isn't it weird or gross that guys do it & most said "oh that's just boys being boys." I also retweeted the other day something about being horny, hungry & angry at the same time (I thought it was funny lol) but one of my (female) friends messaged me saying "ew wtf, why would you say something like that?"

This just made me curious about what some other people may think. Do you think it's weird for women to masturbate? Do you think it's just weird to talk about? Why does it seem like open sexuality is so one sided a lot of the time? That guys are free to talk about sex & masturbating and girls shouldn't discuss it? Thoughts?

Some surveys conclude that whereas 99% guys have admitted to practicing masturbation (1% conceal), about 67% girls do it. Most of them don't admit as female masturbation is considered shameful.
Once I was discussing with my colleague. She strongly refused to ever had watched porno and masturbated. Interestingly the nest time she asked me how could she buy porno movies (not for herself but for other girls). It was really amusing when sooner she admitted to have seen such movies. Next time I gave her few porno movies. Later she enthusiastically discussed with me these two topics.
Girls only need confidence and trust that their secrecy would not be told to others.

I don't think it's weirs.
But you would surprised how many of girls don't do it.
There could be many factors to it.
Some feel shame. I don't blame them because I rember taking sex ed in 5th,8th,9th grade and not once did they educate us on anything that involved female masterbation.

I think it's weird to talk about. Guys are gross and talk about all sorts of things with no filter. It's up to us to try and maintain some degree of social standards and etiquette. That said, I'll talk to my close gf's about a new toy or something.

Agree, women should feel free to discuss it but a lot feel it's not "lady like" and women don't talk about such things. A lot of women won't ADMIT they do it also, but do. It all boils down to how they'll be viewed by others and judgments they think they'll get which is sad. So many people care about what others think.

The ones that were saying 'ew', were probably looking for approval from the next person.
Guys can be the same... denial.
As time goes on, you will enjoy it, do it different ways and realise what a great stress reliever it can be.

I think sexuality seems one sided because women are often shamed for having any. Other women (like your friends) saying things like that shames those who do like to enjoy their body on their own into not saying anything as well and then it just continues.
I enjoy it, I know exactly what I like and sometimes it's nice to just to take the edge off quickly instead of a full sexcepade with hubby.

It's. It weird for women to play with themselves, it's a natural thing and everyone does it and anyone says different is a fucking liar! Some people are not comfortable le talking about masturbating, my sister isn't and I'm not when talking to a complete stranger. And you'd be surprised at how many girls are more open about masturbation than guys.

I think (as much as I know from girls and from this site) 95% of girls masturbate. Or at least 90%. But many many many girls will not admit this in person. Actually only one or two girls that I know will admit it. They will find a way to avoid reply. saying "they have boyfriend" or something like that.

Studies have proven that about 85% of women masturbate. If a woman says that she's never masturbated, she's probably lying, especially if they take the whole "ew that's gross" route. About 95% of men masturbate. So we masturbate about as much as men. I think women are so afraid of being labeled as sluts that we feel the need to pretend to be disgusted by sex.
