  • The pull-out method, or withdrawal, is a kind of birth control used during vaginal sex. It involves someone pulling their penis out of a vagina before ejaculation (orgasm). Many people use the withdrawal method. Some people think it’s the world’s oldest way to practice birth control!.

For the effectiveness of birth control, there’s a difference between perfect use and typical use. Perfect use is the effectiveness when someone uses the method correctly every single time. Typical use is how someone usually uses the method. They might do it correctly most of the time, but sometimes make mistakes.

With perfect use, pulling out can be 96% effective in preventing pregnancy. Only 8% of couples using the pull-out method perfectly will become pregnant in 1 year.

However, many people can make mistakes, like pulling out too late, not realizing they’ve started ejaculating, or ejaculating too early. Also, it’s sometimes possible for pre-ejaculate (pre-cum) to contain a very small amount of sperm. So pulling out is 73% effective with typical use. 18-27% of people become pregnant in 1 year from typical use of withdrawal.

To use the pull-out method correctly, you should withdraw the penis from the vagina well before ejaculating. It’s important not to wait until you’ve started to orgasm, because then semen can get into the vagina.

There are a few more things you can do to make withdrawal more effective:

Peeing after every ejaculation. This can clear out any remaining sperm in the urethra (the tube in the penis where semen comes out). This makes sure that the next time you have sex, your pre-cum (the clear liquid that comes out of an erection) won’t have sperm in it.
Learning when you’re going to ejaculate. You can practice by masturbating and paying attention to how it feels right before you orgasm (cum).
Pulling out early and ejaculating away from the vagina, like on another body part or into a tissue. It’s important to be careful if you ejaculate very close to the vagina. If some semen runs inside the vagina, this could lead to pregnancy.
Combining withdrawal with other types of birth control, like condoms or the pill.
Talking to your partner about their menstrual cycle. Some people are more likely to get pregnant after ovulating. Learning about your partner’s fertility can help you plan to avoid pregnancy.

    • The pull-out method doesn’t involve a barrier, so it doesn’t protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It’s important to know your STI status and your partner’s STI status if you want to try pulling out. You can also combine withdrawal with a condom, which can protect you against STIs. 🤔🤔👎

  • Weakness or selfishness. Sometimes you commit to having sex with a guy and you don’t have a condom or he doesn’t want to wear one but you don’t want to not have sex. There’s millions of sperm in one ejaculation. It’s far better for him to squirt those on my tummy than letting it all out inside me.

  • 3 years haven't got pregnant.

Find it suits my needs and my partners.

I don't understand why I should buy condoms or pills. Waste money when we can use a free method.

The method has the least amount of side effects.

  • Right, hun!!
However, Many of us, Me no Exception to the Rule of Dumb Thumb, Has... Done it.
You never Think it Can "Happen to You" when you Screw. lol How dumb.
    Good Luck. xx

  • Blame their parents or schools or community for not teaching them about sex at an early enough age or even at all ever. Blame "abstinence only education" for much of it.

  • A fire hydrant exploding < water slowly draining from the water hose after you shut it off. Seems like we all know the better solution here! Lmao

    • Yeah birth control and abortions

  • The liklihood of becoming pregnant from pre-cum is extremely low and it gives people an excuse for rawdogging.

  • You can only get pregnant from pre cum if the guy has previously ejaculated and hasn't peed afterward. That's because peeing, essentially, cleans him out. That's how people can use the pull out method and not get pregnant.

  • I have done that with my boyfriend. Tummy still ain't got a baby.

  • I did for the first couple of years I had sex because I didn't know that pre-cum could get a girl pregnant. After that, for a couple of years, all the girls I had sex with were on the pill, but since then I've only had unprotected sex with a few girls, all of whom I was sure were safe (for one reason or another). Feeling a warm, snug, moist vagina on my bare penis is the greatest sensation ever. I like to go real slow with it. Wearing a condom, it takes more vigorous action to get off, but as time has gone by, it seems like the girls I've run into like more vigorous action. Also, looking back on the early days, although that's not the way I thought of it back then, I have some fond memories of waiting until I felt I was just going to explode, then pulling out and watching my sperm gush out all over the girl's belly, face, hair, etc.

  • Lousy to non-existent sex Ed.

  • The only rational answer is that they use it because they're very comfortable with taking a bigger risk of pregnancy.

    • Glad I'm Pro abortion and never having kids

  • Because they're uninformed, like taking chances, or just don't care if they get pregnant.

  • Ikr when I found out how many people use that as a legit method of birth control I couldn't stop laughing. Waaay too risky for my liking.

  • Why do people get in relationships, when they know break up will hurt..
why do people drink and drive, they enjoy the thrill of it.

    • I don't enjoy the thrill of drinking and driving. That's illegal

    • how many laws have you broken, most are dangerous, but i fun, i ain't talking about driving on road, drinking and driving in forest is fun too.. thrill of hitting a tree... 😂😂

  • They're too dumb to do even the small amount of research needed to know that the pullout method doesn't prevent pregnancy. Or they're willing to rely on the odds being lower. I've heard, about 20% of women who use the pullout method regularly get pregnant compared to almost 0% who use condoms. Seems like a pretty easy choice. If we knew going into a particular room meant a 20% chance of catching the flu, but paying a couple bucks for a mask brought it to 0%, I think most of us would buy and wear the mask. Why does anyone think differently about using a real birth control method?

  • Pre cum in and of itself doesn't carry sperm but on its way out it can pick up sperm from previous times cumming. But if i was fucking without wrapping it than u bet ur ass im gonna pull out bc id rather take a chance with pre cum than the real thing haha thats a huge difference in sperm count which makes it higher or lower chance whichever way u want to think about it

  • Well as a guy I would use it only if I have booked ticket to China

    • Most helpful comment.

    • Hahahaa, thanks

  • Because it's free

  • Well I don't use the pull out method. Having had a vasectomy means I don't have to worry about surprises.

    • That's your favourite thing to say. Lol

    • 😒...

    • I'm just kidding.

  • People who don't know are stupid enough. Also. It's possible to not pull out in time. It's a total Russian roulette.

  • If it doesn't work then why am I and so many others not fathers yet?

  • Because I'm pro 😀 no kids yet 🤣

  • Cause its fun lol

  • Chances with precum are less. Besides maybe want to experience some thrill.

    • Yea my boyfriend creampies me every time but I'm on birth control lol

    • So that means he experiences something much better since he dosen't even need to withdraw.

    • Exactly :) I guess guys like that lol
