Thoughts on period sex?

So I've read some Cosmo articles on sex while having a menstrual cycle and I was interested. They were saying something about how period sex was beneficial for both partners. For the women, its a plus because it helps with menstrual cramps and for men its beneficial simply because the vagina is more lubricated (despite it being blood).
My former boyfriend and I have had period sex on occasion and I found it amazing. I get really turned on and my sex drive is spiked when my period is on... I'm for sure its the hormones. But, I will admit it was weird at first but then it got better. We were in the shower, of course, but some people prefer a much drier place like the bedroom. I personally don't want to deal with removing stains like those out of my bed spread and sheets.
I've talked to my friends about period sex as well and they have their reservations (some of them). For the most part they said they'd try it and a good majority have already experienced it. They enjoyed much like I did and recommend it to those who haven't tried it. I also had friends who were completely grossed out by the thought of period sex. Every experience is different. I only have period sex if I'm flowing light. Others, prefer a heavier cycle...
It's soooo much on this topic but what are you guys thoughts? Is it taboo to you? Have you done it? Did you like it? What didn't you like about it? Let me know in the opinions below :)

Uh, so, Cosmo is overstating things about the lubricating quality of menstrual blood...

But to me, no one ever told me I should be grossed out by this natural and pretty awesome process my body goes through, so it never even occurred to me that period sex was something to be avoided. So I never did.

These days, I don't even mention it. If you didn't look at my lady parts long enough to figure it out, and you didn't ask, I figure you don't care. Much better than being asked "well, just give me a blow job then" - no, we are together to both have orgasms, so mine needs to be on the table too.

I put a towel down and grab a wash cloth if I think I might need it, but my period is usually so light it never matters.

Shower sex is usually really bad.

I don't have vaginal dryness so I don't think the lubricated thing would make a difference. Even if I didn't find it extremely unappealing my period cramps are too intense throughout my period to enjoy having a dick inside of me or having an orgasm.

My boyfriend and I quite regularly have sex whilst I'm menstruating, and I more often than not experience some of the most intense orgasms imaginable.
So as my sister @Kaylyne would say, it's a total win, win situation.

I used to be open to it/enjoy it but I’m not really a fan anymore... my husband doesn’t care either way but I find it more painful now with hitting my cervix. Just not worth it.
If it didn’t hurt I’d have no issue haha

I've done it with my girlfriend but only on days when her flow is light also. We use a red bath towel that we lay on the bed before having sex on top of it. That might be worth trying for a change from shower sex. I don't find it that different than sex at other times and sometimes she gets really turned on during her period.

It shouldn't be a taboo kind of thing. As long as the girl is comfortable with it there's no reason not to do it. I've had period sex many times and it's never been that messy at all. And you can always put a towel down to protect the sheets.

I've done it once, in the shower. The big problem was that shower sex just didn't work for us, so it wasn't really an option to try it any further.

It's not "taboo" or whatever; I cannot imagine actually WANTING to fuck her specifically because she's on her period. I mean I've have sex with a girl before when she was on her period, but it sure wasn't like a turn on for me, it was just a "oh, okay whatever let's have sex anyway" kind of situation. I can't imagine how any guy would want that specifically, but there are some weird dudes out there...

Leave her alone when she got period cuz A she will be in a grumpy mood, B I don't want a bloody dick and C I can hangout with my mates while doing so :).
