How often do men think of sex?

There's a rumor that men think about sex all the time. I wonder how often though. And if it's more common in single men (thinking about all the hot women they see during the course of the day, or the porn they watched) compared to those who are in a relationship (can't wait to get home to bone their wife/girlfriend, or can't stop thinking about how hot the sex was the last time).

  • I must be broken or something if this is the norm for "all guys".. I very rarely think about sex. Obviously I'm human and enjoy it when the moment is present, but i don't just think about it between chores. It's the last thing i think about in my everyday life. My mind is mainly on other things, like work, art, music, food, science, etc.. and sex is on my mind very little.
I clearly can't speak for most guys here, but i personally, 100% know that not ALL guys have sexual thoughts as their main drive or focus or even just at random times. It's ridiculous and sad to me that people assume that whenever they meet a guy, that they should instantly expect sexual harrassment or something.. this shouldn't be the first impression. But sadly i do understand why it's such a big generalization.

Especially on the internet, (which is where we interact with people most of the time now btw),
But to see some reason for this, I'll flip it, like some people have said here; there are a lot of women that are also absolutely dependant and driven by sex, they just seem fewer because they might just go about it differently and have some control or whatever, choose their moments and audiences more wisely. but even then, some often compare their own over sexualized mindset to a guys.. (as if men invented genitals).. so the stereotype sticks no matter what.
And let's not forget that womens undeniable and, a lot of the time intentionally seductive, fun, flirty nature actually welcomes this response they get from men a lot of the time.
So we can't really be surprised and hateful when these things are happening from men.
This does not mean i condone harrassment of any type.
People just don't seem to be on the same page, and yes, maybe guys are more direct and insensitive.
This definitely needs to be brought up more, but acknowledging both genders behaviour and motive is important.

Basically.. we live in a world that's ran by internet, social media, and over sexualization of almost everything; it's a big free-for-all, what do we expect to happen?
The psychology behind it is a whole other aspect too, for sure.. But both genders are accountable in ways.

I personally find it a turnoff on both, male and female parts to have "sex" as a main focus, and daily drive, there's just more I put my mind to.
but a lot of people see it as totally okay and it works for them.
    Which is fine.
I just don't agree with putting a whole gender down just because you haven't noticed the exceptions.

  • It's not like 24/7, because then nothing would get done anywhere in the world. No construction, no business transactions, no sales.

But we do think about it every now and then during the day I would say. Depending on the guy, it's more or less. I tend to think about it most when I'm bored or when I get a connection with the opposite sex, not necessarily a physical sexual connection, but a feeling of an intense emotional, sensual connection will do it for me as well. Then, in my mind, there is a possibility of her being someone I'll be intimate with some time. So then I fantasize. Sometimes, if I'm horny enough, if I see a gorgeous woman with sensually suggestive clothing on (or barely on) then my mind might starts to pursue her in fantasy.

But contrary to popular belief, as a male, I have other things to think about like how to make sure my bank account has enough funds for me to survive while staying out of jail or not being killed in the process.

    • Lol I see, thank you so much for your lengthy response. I think it's most honest and accurate. I believe women can work the same way. Me, for instance, find myself thinking about sex very often, but only with my boyfriend, and usually when I have nothing to do or when it won't get me into trouble lol (like cleaning my house compared to working at my job). I've never found myself to fantasize about other men though. It's always about my boyfriend :)

    • I think women and men work very similarly in many ways, but differ in mechanism at times or for purpose because, hey, we men you women.

    • Lol yeah xD

  • My husbands told me it depends on age for how often. The place they're at in life. Stress will cause them to think of sex less. Whether they're in their prime or not. But guys do think of sex a lot just more at certain points.

Women think of sex a lot too, just a little differently. It would depend on our prime and age as well. I remember being really horny and boy crazy as a teen. Puberty and all that. I actually don't think guys think of sex much more than women I believe that it's just different types of thoughts. Because most times when I think of sex since puberty it's the sexual/ romantic part of it. Guys think of sex with everyone they find hot. That doesn't make it more just different.

    • (Women think of sex a lot too, just a little differently. + I actually don't think guys think of sex much more than women I believe that it's just different types of thoughts.) Explain the difference please...

    • @WhistleThuslyTWEETs I did. More romantically for women. They think of sex but the romanticized portion of it. Not all women some just think of sex the way guys do. I think women are more likely to think of "making love" which makes us more quiet about it than guys. Its more intimate. Guys think of sex with every girl they find attractive. That doesn't mean it's more than girls who think about just one guy they imagine having sex with.

    • Please give your answer more clearly. 1. (More romantically for women) what is romantic according to women? is it intercourse, cuddling, makeout or just a thought of nonsexual activities? 2. ( Not all women some just think of sex the way guys do.) How do guys think of sex according to you and how do women think of sex? 3. (I think women are more likely to think of "making love" which makes us more quiet about it than guys.) What is the difference between "making love" and "having sexual things" 4. ( Its more intimate.) Sex is not "intimate"? 5. (Guys think of sex with every girl they find attractive.) Girls don't when do the see attractive guys/girls? 6. (That doesn't mean it's more than girls who think about just one guy they imagine having sex with.) I actually didn't get this point? I have a hard time picturing it how do women think of sex? Or women don't think of sex they think about nonsexual stuff like (political, sports, clothes talking etc)

  • I read a really interesting article in Psychology today on this subject but the study also included thoughts about sleep and food. . Testing men and women between 18-25. The typical men in this sample were thinking about sex once or twice an hour, and statistically no more and no less than they were thinking about eating or sleeping
For all the details you can see the article here.

  • Men's drive for sex is harsher than a woman's but they can control this need. However a study has shown the most men do not mature until the age off around 40-45 years depending on the man were as most woman mature around the ages of 25-30 years. It is I think a case of hormones. This is my opinion and please guys just treat as such and don't blast me for it I mean no offense. Just saying.

    • Id agree with you but drop down to 30 for men maturity other than that i think your spot on great opinion by the way

    • I actually agree with this. Not that desperate for sex right now. I masturbated to porn like 2 times this past year, and I don't really think about sex. Not sure if other guys are just really horny bastards, or if I'm just the odd one out. Definitely not gay though.

    • Thank you!. I have had many guys tell me am dumb lol. @knux313 well I was trying to remember the actual case study and my mistake lol thank you for correcting me. @everdream your actually normal out off all my brothers only two have lost their virginty and the other three mostly constraint on work and paying bills. As the only female am the one who actively looks for partners. Just saying the drive for relationships are within my programming lol.

  • Unquestionably every day. No doubt of it.

Part of it is I sleep with my girlfriend. (I'm nude unless it is really cold, then I might wear underwear. She tends to sleep in pajamas or a negligee.) So I have a reminder of sex every morning and every night.

Part of it is that I just think about it. My girlfriend and I have sex - if you averaged it out - probably about 4 times a week. I masturbate a lot, too. All of it just keeps it front and center of my mind.

It's not like, when I am at work, I stop to think about sex - but on the way home or if I have the house to myself. Spare moments, so to speak.

  • In general yes they think about it more than men but it just depends on the person. Some women have more thoughts than some men.

  • I'm in a long term relationship, we are also kinky. Just some background. For me, there are times where my thoughts are all sexual, but there are times where they are not, there is no ryme or reason for it, just how it seems to be for me

  • Everyday basically... but it’s not like all day just moments here and there... i follow gorgeous girls on ig and Twitter plus I see booty and thighs and boobs at college so like it’s very hard not to.

  • I think about it all the time. I even dream about it sometimes

    • Same with me too

    • I think women are more sexual than men are but men are considered to be the worst. I have had many gfs who have wanted it more than I did and even though they wanted it more I never said no or refused them.

  • It depends... how long are they asleep?
And if dreams count, the answer might be 24/7... lol

How often do men think of sex?
    • Men are simple, but not that simple...

  • Even if we think about sex, don't mean we want it at the same time, there's a difference.

  • Not all the time, at some point we are sleeping. Then we wake up and start think about sex again :)

  • It depends on the person, my boyfriend thinks of sex but not as often as I do since I think about sex quite frequently. There's nothing wrong with thinking of sex often, it's a basic human instinct.

  • Just depends works both ways women can be just as bad when it comes to sex. Some might not vary often some are addicts that's a loaded question

  • Women and men are different.
Men need sex whereas woman want sex.

    That is mostly the difference.
That why men can marry someone just for sex...
If the person give him sex, he has a good relationship.( I mean together treating him nicely but also give him an adequate amount of sex regularly)

  • Im not a guy but I know guys who don't seem to think about sex very often. If they do they are good at hiding it.

    • Yeah they doing a pretty good job hiding the thoughts in their head lol

  • Not all time, but significant times after, apart from their "other must-dos"...

  • As much as women

  • Today not even once.

  • It realllly very much depends on the sex drive of the person. Wether be it a man or a woman. Some men have higher sex drive than others. And some women even have higher sex drive than a lot of men... thus think about sex even more than some men.

Personally, if i rate my sex drive from 1 to 10. 10 being super high. It's 20.
So you can imagine that i think about sex more than anything else during my day. And being with a woman with a matching sex drive is a like dream to me ^_^.

  • When I fall for someone, I get blinders to others. It's not that way for all men.

  • Generally I'm too preoccupied with what I'm doing to think about other things. But when I'm not busy, pretty frequently. Usually I stay occupied with the thing at hand, but people are also capable of multitasking.

  • Whenver an attractive girl walks by in anyting tight or revealing. or even if she’s wearing a burka and has nice eyes with a lot of make-up...

    • Hahhahahahhahahha, burka part was awesome

  • I can only speak for me... i don't. women irritate me...
