First, bobbing up and down is not needed. It's awkward and inexact. Just sit, thrusting and hulaing once you've started.

Actually, positions that provide ease of entry are the better ones, depth of penetration is largely irrelevant.
So, missionary and even doggy style are fine.

Girl on top might seem like the winner because you have control over the penetration, but from what I have been told it rarely matters because the pain is largely just temporary and attempting it slowly might not even be the best option.
The way I had it described to me was as something you just have to "get over with" and the swifter you are at it, the sooner it will pass.

But, of course, people's anatomy can be very different.
It's not a thing you can really prepare for because your particular experience might be wildly different.

NOT THE SPOON! It's hard to get in the right position for that without experience, which can make it awkward and sore. I'd say either missionary since it's easier and intimate, but allows the guy to be in control, or cowgirl, which is also pretty easy but allows the girl to be in control and stop whenever she wants if she isn't happy for any reason, which is always a good option to have on your first time
