  • It depends on industry and corporate culture among many things.

Some fields are level while others aren’t. But even in level fields the old male as head of house shows its head in the workplace.

My bestfriend’s husband got a big pay raise upon their engagement. And what’s mine is yours isn’t always the case. She paid for the down payment on their house and other things.

Unless you work for a company that has set pay grades men usually get paid more for the same job. White men that is.

    • Men get paid more bcs men usually work more... duuuh

    • @grega239 so not fucking true

    • So very fucking true... maybe women shouldn't go study bullshit like gender studies and the like and instead go study a stem subject or work overtime like men do... how do u expect to get the same pay if u dont work as much as a guy

  • Currently in the unites states... yes. I understand that at one point it was true though

  • Its a myth. Guys, especially Caucasian men, are discriminated against more than anyone else.

  • It's no more a myth than female privilege.

People make mental associations naturally regarding both men and women. People assume women are better at certain things than men and likewise people assume men are better at certain things than women.

Now... women might not like their "privileges" but that doesn't mean they aren't there. So... Male privilege may well exist... but if it does then female privilege does as well.

  • yes . simply google . what are male privileges . find out for yourselves .

  • of course not. every demographic of society experiences some forms of privilege
    ex.
female privilege: more likely to be taken seriously and not suffer derision for claims of sexual abuse
male privilege: less likely to be the victim of sexual abuse

    • Actually men are MORE likely to suffer sexual abuse. We just don't count most of them, because hey! They're guys; they should have stopped it.

    • @taleswapper evidence of this please? and you say there is no evidence to support it because no one is keeping track then your statement is one of pure opinion and not of any fact.

    • *sigh* THe problem is you have to look in the right places, which most folks don't. They exclude prison rape, and the frequency with which men under-report vs women, and the rate of underaged male rape. But if you dig for those figures specifically, and add them in, you find that men are more likely, rather than less. You have to look at how the studies are conducted, not just at the conclusions.

  • Oh god, the "Male Privilege" thing is so fucking retarded. People usually bring up the wage gap on this topic. Men on average work more, since women usually focus more on family and like to have a balanced life between family and their job. Men on the other hand focus more on the job to provide for his family in most situations. Yes, there are women who work their ass off and work as much as men, but on average men work more. Also, here's another thing. The mother usually always gets custody over the child even if she has a worse record. Men also have to be dominant or else society see's them as beta males. Meaning if someone breaks in, in most situations the guy is the one who's going to confront the intruder not the woman. Trust me, I've fought girls before and most of them are terrible at it. That's why a lot of guys usually do the fighting. I'm not saying girl's can't fight. I'm just saying a lot of girls do not know how to. That's why most women need to learn how to defend themselves. Another thing is that a lot of guys are being accused of rape when he didn't even attempt to rape her or do it. Both genders deal with their own shit but to accuse of one gender having "privilege" is dumb. Each gender has their cons and pros of gender inequality. Some things we can't change and that's okay.

    • Perfect answer...

    • MADDY MAX FOR PRESIDENT!

    • @NotIceBear Lmao

  • No it’s not as bad in the West by any means but in the Middle East, India , and Africa it sure sucks to be a woman.

  • Yes it's a a myth in the western world, but it exist in most islamic countries.

  • Now Women have better lives, in the past Men did.

  • I think it's a myth! The argument of men being paid more, is because generally men work more, not always, but on average.

    • Holy shit. This girl gets it!!

    • @Ronin82 Every girl should! It DID exist a hell of a long time ago, but now it doesn't and I think girls need to understand that

  • At least not in the US where men still hold a large majority of political offices and run most of the businesses.

    • So you feel like people in those positions should be judged on gender before qualifications? Don't get me wrong, I'm pro equality but people tend to forget those are high demanding jobs where one is often expected to work 10/12 hours a day and 6/7 days a week. And I'm not saying that women couldn't do that but the fact (!) is that women often choose for a more balanced social life and often prefer to spend more time with their family.

    • @_Gecko Women have to spend more time with their family because the men won't or can't.

  • No... But that guy is cute.. I would give him a privilege or "male privilege "(wtv you want to call it) .. If I was his boss he would be getting them.

    So I no, it's not a myth.

    • Nice to be your subordinate and your eye candy then

  • It's not. They say "this is a man's world"

  • A privilege in itself is a myth.

  • Male privilege is an oxymoron.

  • If "privilege is making up 94% of all work-related deaths and getting paid a lousy $0.23 more to occupy all the labor intensive and dangerous work, then yes.
