Ladies/girls, how does it feel like to wear a skirt or dress?

So as a guy who never even wears shorts, skirts and dresses are definitely out of the question.

But I know how shorts feel... they're just basically pants, but a shorter version that exposes more leg and goes above the knee. That's it.

Now a dress... I imagine it just basically feels like wandering into public areas without any pants on. Unless you wear small spandex shorts underneath... but they're traditionally worn with just underwear, and most people who look at you will assume you just have on underwear.

The same applies for a skirt... it's just basically the same as a dress, but it's separate from the top part. But it still provides no coverage in the way pants and shorts do. It's open from underneath as well.

And I imagine, the shorter the skirt/dress is, the worse the problem becomes. Because if it's long and goes past your knee, then you don't really have to worry much about the way you sit, nor about flashing anyone in any way. But if it goes above your knee... then you do have to worry about the way you sit and such.

Plus, since a dress or skirt is open from underneath, I imagine even a really long one is already cool enough, and keeps you from overheating. Making it shorter just seems unnecessary, and just impractical if anything, since you have to watch how you sit. It's already flowy and open and allows the air in... it doesn't need to be above the knee.

And yeah... sorry this post is so long, but I'm legitimately curious about this skirts and dresses stuff!

I'm not even attracted to women, so this is not a fetish post. It's just that to me wearing a skirt/dress seems no different than just wearing a long shirt.
Awkward. I don't like them.
Vote A
I feel neutral about it... I don't wear them super often, but don't mind wearing them once in a while.

Great! I love them!

  • as one that wears free flowing, floor length skirts (as a masculine, none sodomite man), it all depends on the garment. people mix dress with skirts, but we all should know the difference. i never warn a dress (one peace, covering top and bottom). as for skirts. if it's exposing my legs, not so. especially if it's a rough material like jeans fabric). but the type of skirts i do wear and are 100% comfy wearing are long, free flowying peasant skirts and plain coloured and full floor lenth gypsy skirts (cotton)

ps i answered though i'm not a female because i'm pretty sure if enough guys did the same (but not you, asker) then you'd most likely ask the guys also

  • Seriously, dude, are you that insecure in your own 'Manliness' that you never wore a skirt, or dress, some, soft, lacy 'nightie' because you were with a girl that was testing you, and you just played along, for the fun of it? Are you THAT 'HOMOPHOBIC' that you never did anything with past girlfriends?
It's just cloth!! I DARE you to tell a Highland Scotsman that he is wearing a 'skirt' when he wears a traditional Kilt!! You are sure to get a good ass-beating!!
It won't make you 'gay' to try wearing a dress, or skirt!! It's much more fun with a girlfriend, teasing, and playing, though...

    • Great info... but I'm overall just sad and fat, I could never pull a skirt/dress off :(

    • That's even better!! I am never imagined liking skirts and dresses, and I am TOTALLY ADORING women, and not trans, but when one teased me, challenged, and I tried, it feels comfortable, and normal!! I'm not at all 'slender' and in the summer, I LOVE just wearing a long T-shirt (really a dress) around the house, when alone, or with that girl!! I hate the tight 'guy' shorts, and 'Board shorts' are just floppy!

    • Ah... well after reading that, I feel much more tempted to try it out sometime! Maybe not a flat out super girly skirt/dress... but maybe a kilt, for beginners.

  • Skirts look really good on me, especially the short and flowy ones. I don’t feel like I worry about how I sit, I always cross my legs anyway, even if I’m wearing pants. There’s nothing uncomfortable about them in my opinion.

    • Well you certainly seem to be a huge fan of skirts and dresses, haha. And judging from your pretty face, I don't doubt that you look good in a skirt or dress. You must look great in them indeed! And short and flowy ones are your favorites, hm? Well as a guy who's never worn skirts/dresses, those are the ones I imagine I'd fear the MOST, haha. Short, so I have to watch how I sit... and flowy, so I also have to worry about how windy it is outside... But it sure just comes to show how different peoples' perspectives can be, haha. Who knows... if I was a girl, and brought up to wear skirts/dresses, maybe I'd be just like you, and not even care/think about it.

    • Also, I love how thus far, you're the only actual girl that left a comment response, heh... I meant to make this a girls only question, but whatever. Also, I can assume the girl who voted "Great! I love them!" on the poll was you, haha. Maybe not... but I'm betting a 50% chance.

    • Like I said, I really don’t think about how I sit. The wind is a bit of a concern but whatever.

  • Try on a Kilt. Then you'll know

    • Ah... that'd work. They function the same as a skirt/dress... yet are not blatantly girly.

    • The true way to wear a Kilt however is with no underwear.

    • what would make a skirt girly? would it be the softness? the fabric? the colour? the length? because the way i see it, if a man wore something more longer and softer then a kilt, that would not take away from his manliness (unless he started dancing and playing with the skirt as a girl would)
