I was in toronto the other day and we spotted an interracial couple. White man, Asian woman, both beautiful people. My boyfriend comments "aye good for him for getting an Asian girl". I was bothered by it... We are also interracial but he is white and I am black. Kinda made me feel less desirable. So the whole day i went to comment the same thing "oh good for him too" when i spotted the same type of interracial couple. Only once tho and I hated to utter out those worlds bc it sounds ignorant as fuck. "Good for him/her for getting with a (insert race here) chick/dude" is so ignorant thing to say. I don't see a black chick w a white dude "good for her" its so dumb. He could be a shitty as dude for all I know. There's a difference in racial preference and fetishising. And that's fetishising. Later that night i brought it up and he says he doesn't like white girls and likes to see interfacial couples.. Makes sense but he thought that he should've said "good for them" at least. Second time he said something lile this. First time was a year ago when he spotted a black guy/white girl relationship. "Must be nice to have a white girl parade you around". I was taken aback and didn't know what to say to that... Recently tho I have seen lots of men fetishising Asian women.. Simply for the fact that they are Asians. Being perverted about it too. Like how my boyfriend recorded himself jerking of to some Asian pop music with females signing in high pitched voices. He was barley hard.. Which i don't get bc he hates whiny singing and he never shares that type of music with me... But I guess them being Asia is ok. Most are childish looking...

Yes, it's an ignorant thing to say. Yes, Asian women are fetishized in a way that denies their essential humanity and treats them like they are a trophy, or a price, or some "exotic" thing the man was able to obtain. Yes, pretty disgusting how your boyfriend said it. you SHOULD feel dehumanized by it, because, he has a dehumanizing idea about what a woman represents in a relationship.

If that was MY boyfriend, he'd probably get a crash course in Orientalism, exotification, colorism, and how this all feeds both a sexist and racist bias. He'd either get tired of me reminding him and leave, or he'd get schooled. Either way, I win by not having a caveman for a boyfriend.

A lot of white men feel constantly disrespected by women of non-asian races. I know that I am really attracted to Asian women's femininity and the fact that they are generally more submissive. I don't get it either, it's just weird. If a girl is hot, she's hot, I'm not sure why they feel the need to bring race into it. Your boyfriend sounds really weird with the recording thing, as well as his attitudes about inter-racial relationships and towards white women - my guess is that he got rejected by a few white women (probably because he's a weirdo) and has some bitterness towards them.
