My boyfriend does that too, he likes eye contact. Luckily I do too. He wouldn't be with you if he didn't find you attractive, but if closing your eyes makes you more comfortable keep doing it. Maybe talk to him about it?
I know my man likes to make eye contact because it is more romantic and intimate for us, so if we aren't making out during or kissing someone's neck/ears (in a position where eye contact is maintainable) we always look into each other's eyes and admire each other's faces.
