  • Of course you respect them. First and foremost they are women. The job they do is far from easy, far from easy money. It's hard work. You have to put aside your femininity. Put aside yourself. Deal with the hidden emotions. You put aside your fears. Become hard. It's business, you have something for sale. You attract the best, if you're lucky, of men, you also attract the scum. The scum who never see the woman, just the holes.
You lose all respect for men you see them at their weakest, their meanest, the lack of self control, the braggers, the sadists, the talkers.
A little respect for the woman whose time you have bought goes such a long way to restore her self esteem as a woman, it's immeasurable for her as a woman.

    • To add. My sister is a volunteer driver for Ruhama in Dublin. An NGO that works with women who have been affected by prostitution and sexual exploitation. My sister is a qualified addiction counsellor. This bus goes to where prostitutes ply their trade, on the streets. The drug addict prostitutes, those women forced into it to feed their habit, or their pimps habit. The women can take a break on the bus. Have tea or coffee, sandwiches available. And most importantly someone to talk to, someone who won't judge them. The stories she has told would break your heart, the hardest of them.

    • Thank you very much for sharing this! :)

    • I think you confuse understanding, sympathy and bad situations as respect. They are not the same.

  • I talked with ea few prostitutes on internet. Being curious, I didn't ask them about sex, that's too previsible but I asked them about finances and ideas.

I was shocked to read how much contempt they have for women and men who aren't as 'smart' as they and their pimps are , thus people, men and women who aren't in the prostitution business.
Well just try to calculate how much an escort or hooker 'earns' monthly (without paying taxes, of course) and you'll understand why they have that mentality.

That contempt destroyed any respect I could have had.

    • How much do they earn?

    • Multiply the nr of johns they service by the tariff they can impose.

  • At least they are open about what they want. They want money in exchange for sex.
Who I don't respect, are girls who post their sexy body pictures and are getting offended when people are calling them sluts. Like they had completely noooo idea that men simply jerk off to such stuff and they are becoming some sort of picture porn stars

  • Depends why they are a prostitue. If They urgently need money to help out a family member or raise a kid, then I would consider them as any other human being
If they prostitue because why not then I would find their life choices are questionable and won’t respect them, but I won’t be rude to them either

  • "Prostitute" is an old term, we have come to be more understanding and now people are referring to them as escorts, for respect.

I think people from all cultures think bad of escorts because they have always been told they are "bad" "Unmoral" "Sinners". But nobody has break down the truth to them.

When comes to prostitution there is 2 parts to consider morality & profesion/legality. The part of "if you respect them" is out of the question. They are humans, not respecting them as such is morally wrong and shows the type of character the judger has.

Judging them because of what they do is ridiculous. I mean humans have badic needs, we need to eat (food industry), we need to sleep (matress & sleep product industry), we need to reproduce/have sex (and there is an industry for that), etc.

Just because religion has influenced so much in our society we think is wrong. But simply is just one more service that is provided. For many escorts is a a horrible job, but ask a janitor or a pharmacist if they like their job many will say no but is something that has to be done and somebody has to do it. We respect janitors and pharmacists the same but why can't we respect escorts?

They are simply trying to provide a service but people don't see it that way. Is the oldest profession there is and so rooted to us as humans.

Now as legality goes, I feel sorry for them. Even tho is an honest way to make a living because they charge for their service and doesn't affect anyone other than them. It seems the lack of support from the general public has obligated them to work in the shadows, in a very dangerous environment, which in turn makes the profession look bad.

If we would make prostitution legal everywhere, and we made stablishments. Where the escorts would feel safe, be paid better, and hygyene and health be a priority. Many of the bad stigma around prostitution bemostly eliminated. Like drug consumption and distribution, less unwanted pregnancies, less STD problems, less child prostitution, less murder/rape related crimes.

Bottom line is, prostitution will eventually become legal but the govs knows people are still too ignorant about it. The lawmakers WILL NOT go against it too severe because they too use the services of high class escorts. It is up to the people to decide how much longer will prostitution go from a societies problem to a solution.

by the way, 🖐️ I have never in my life use their services. If I ever do that is non of you'll business.

  • Nope. I mean they can do it if they want, but I'm not going to have any respect for them. It's pretty damn disgusting, gross and unsanitary. That's especially true of street walkers.

They are also taking advantage of some guys weaknesses. Geez dude, just jack off and get it over with.

I can kind of see it in some rare cases. Like I've known about guys who were 30 year old virgins or whatever. They went to a high class escort just to experience sex at least once in their life. I don't really have a problem with that.

    • Shocking seeing you judge women

  • I respect them. I wouldn't partake in their services, but I know others might. And they're just trying to make a living, like the great majority of us. I've done no research into it, but it would make sense that most of them have mouths to feed, or are trying to get through college, or are just trying to get by. I hope that law enforcement around the world can put an end to those who are FORCED into it, but to those who do it willingly, who are just trying to make ends meet - and doing that by taking up a profession that could see them being in dangerous situations - sure, I'll respect that. Who am I to judge another fellow human being? I'll leave the judgment to God or whatever Higher Power is up there.

  • I don't think there's anything to respect. It's a job that some choose to do. Why would I respect someone for going out and making money?

  • I don't see why not. Whether its because they enjoy it or because they don't have another option, their line of work is no reason not to respect them.

  • I’d respect them if they did things in private and not take their business to the streets

  • Why should we respect someone, male or female, someone who sells their body for money? It's not a respectable profession. Just like I have no respect for someone who seeks one out. Now an escort is different. They are paid to spend time with a person, talk or otherwise, and I think that speaks volumes of where we are as a society, that people feel the need to pay someone to listen. Yes they often do have intercourse but the intent behind being a person being paid to lend an ear and possibly have sex is different IMHO.

  • Yes, they are victims. I work with Prostitutes to help them get out of the Life and to put their Traffickers behind bars!!!

  • They are people with feelings, and should be treated fairly and with respect.

  • No. It's not something worthy of my respect.

    • Jesus Christ loved and respected Mary Magdalene. Typical Catholic, you've lost all sight of basic Christianity.

    • Respect is a positive feeling or action shown towards someone or something considered important, or held in high esteem or regard; it conveys a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities; and it is also the process of honoring someone by exhibiting care, concern, or consideration for their needs or feelings. Some people may earn the respect of individuals by assisting others or by playing important social roles. In many cultures, individuals are considered to be worthy of respect until they prove otherwise.

    • By the book. Not an ounce of Christianity to be seen. Typical hard nosed Catholic. Craw Thumpers.

  • No, I do not respect prostitutes.
I view them as self-serving vermin that contributes nothing of value to society.

    • You love them

  • I respect prostitutes more than I respect sluts.

  • I used to, but not really anymore. They are basically using the fact that men are desperate for sex to extort money from them.

  • Define respect, first. Then I will answer.

    • Ah. Respect : a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. But what I meant was, consideration.

    • Aha, so by that definition respect is a pronounced feeling of appraisal towards someone for displaying qualities that you value. Not to be confused with common courtesy, which is just polite treatment that has nothing to do with your feelings towards that person. My general policies are that I give common courtesy until given a reason not to, but actual respect must be earned. This applies no differently to prostitutes. I don't think their profession in and of itself makes them ineligible for common courtesy, or even respect--but doesn't guarantee them either. I probably could've summed that up with one word: indifference--but that would've have done my thought process justice.

    • Thanks!

  • I try to respect everyone as a person. But the profession itself, I can’t have respect for. But everyone is different and I’m sure that at least half of them got to that point because they saw no other option. So, I don’t judge them until I know the individuals story. I happen to know a reformed prostitute. I might have not liked what she was doing but we’re still friends.

  • I’m more curious about what got them into the profession? Was it someone helping them there? Was it desperate financial need? Did they love sex so much hey decided to make a career of it (probably not)... Was it a breakup?

    • Regardless of the circumstances, do you respect them?

    • I know friends of my kids who hooked up and then asked for “help”(money), I don’t know if it’s prostitution or not, but it heads that way.

    • I respect them as people. I don’t think prostitution is a criminal act. That being said I don’t want my children visiting them and paying for sex.

  • its just a sexy job so i have lots of respect for them

  • Sure

  • I don't respect them, because they took shortcuts in life. I treat them with basic human dignity, but I don't have an ounce of respect for a prostitute.

  • No respect or disrespect from me. It's one of the oldest jobs in the world and just another job and they don't harm anyone else.

    • So, neutral then. Forgot to put that in poll. 😐
