Would rape be primary targeted at transwoman if they were put in prison with men?

Question

Three year ago, there was a big controversy in putting a transgender woman in a male's prison. Many people believe that it goes against their (trans) rights and belief of being seen as a woman. Other consider it dangerous to put transwomen in prison due to them most likely being targeted for rape and cosnidered it inhuman. However, seeing transmen and women, make up a small percentage of the human population it is not certain as whether rape would be geared mostly at them if enough transwoman occupied male prison.

Tara Hudson,26, is a transwoman who started a big social movement after many people felt it was not fair to keep her in a violent male prison for 12 weeks.

Let's play hypothetical here and say that transgender women were allowed to continue their hormone therapy in prison and the average ratio of transwomen to prisoners who identify as men was 5:1. Do you think if there were enough transwomemn in jail that most of the rape would be targeted at them and very few males who identify as men would be getting raped in prison?

I think regardless which prison male or female they'll get raped. If a ftm gets placed in a mens prison they still have a vagina... so they'll get raped... if ftm gets placed in a womans prison they'll most likely get raped as well. Mtf in a female prison they still have a dick and will most likely get raped because of it... mtf in a mans prison they'll get raped. Prison rape happens if your perceived as weak or piss people off adding other gendered transgendered individuals ie biologically born a woman into a mans prison your adding a different dynamic that i believe can only increase the chances of rape.

Fuck guys get raped in prison, let alone a guy who's almost a woman (or looks as close to a woman as you can get). I mean there is a reason they don't put women in the same prisons as men.

Actually, I think the trans would get beat up by some and probably their life would be more of an issue than getting raped. But then again, depending on the type of trans woman, I suppose he/she could navigate some how safely through the system, but I have my doubts.

Nearly everyone gets raped in prison. Present feminine qualities in a male prison and good gods, I can't even imagine.

We've a ways to go. People that make significant mistakes should not be tortured. The way it is says more about us than it does the incarcerated.

Incarceration is a punishment. Gang rape is torture that no one ever recovers from.

Anyone feminine is prone to be the prey in prison.  But that doesn't only included guys who run around wearing dresses. guys who weigh a lot and can't bench a lot are just as vulnerable, etc, etc.

Pre op or post op? Thats the big question. If they are pre op, then hormone therapy is stopped (I believe). If not then they would likely be placed in with the "protected" either in solitary, or with those who are the pedophiles (child rapists are the lowest form of prisoner) If placed in the General population it would be dangerous. Although, I did see a version of locked up with a trans male who was kinda the "mother" in that wing.
