Not sure how to answer the poll. However, speaking as a guy who has tried it, I can say that it has very definite effects.

When it comes to sex, I tend to be dominant and somewhat aggressive. Some years ago my girlfriend just wanted to try an experiment of putting me in a chastity device for - if I remember - it was two months. (It felt like 2,000 years.)

Initially it was no big deal but as time wore on I at first became very irritable and aggressive. I would snap at the smallest thing and found it hard to be civil. Not always, but more often than not.

Also, I increasingly found it very hard to focus. I would make mistakes, forget things. Neglect to do chores around the house.

In later stages I became very submissive. I would do anything for my girlfriend if she would just even hint that she would let me have sex. For that matter, if she would just let me feel her naked skin - and if she touched mine I would practically shoot through the roof.

Also, for no reason I would start to cry. I just wanted to be held. There was just this weird sense that I just wanted to be accepted and loved.

No joke. I don't want to exaggerate as there were days when the routine business of life and work would keep me busy. Although, as I say, I found it increasingly hard to think and focus on tasks as time wore on.

However, I can't deny that there were some real world effects - and when we finally called of our little experiment I was at first very timid and submissive. As if I was afraid that she would take sex away from me if I did not behave.

Then after a bit I became my old self, but it was a very unusual experience - and not one I want to try again. I need sex and I didn't recognize me when I didn't get it.

How that translates in terms of "usefulness" I cannot say as I am not quite sure how you mean that. I voted "useful" in that I learned some things about myself and my sexuality - as did my girlfriend. (Who happily found the experience difficult and frustrating too as she tends to be - in the bedroom at least - sexually submissive and obedient to me. In that we are very compatible.)

Overall, I guess I would have to say that if you want to control a man, it seems to work. We generally need sex - not like food or water - but to keep our emotional balance. Deprive a man of that for long enough and he will pretty much be yours to do with what you like.

Personally, nah. Yeah, controlling your desire to f**k and masturbate all day (as a guy) can be hard but learning to control it manually is part of the process.
