My girlfriend won't go on the pill?

So my girlfriend refuses to go on the pill, which normally I'd be like okay I'll wear a condom. But we both have a thing for well not doing that and she really likes a special something from me... But anyways she always wants to do that and get a morning after pill, I tell her that's not good for her and she should just take the regular pill but she refuses saying "I'll forget" or "high risk for blood clots is in my family" or some other lame excuse. I just want to look out for her health. Am I wrong? If I'm not wrong what is a better way to get her to go about taking the pill? Im tired of fighting about this and I think that maybe I should approach the conversation differently. Any help would be great

  • You're definitely not wrong. Using the morning after pill is a last resort, not something to be taken so lightly. You should sit down with her and discuss all the pill options. There are many brands with different side effects and types that are lower risk for blood clots.

A compromise is you wearing a condom actually. If it comes to that, tell her you give up and are just gonna wear it from now on.

    • We never get as far as having an adult conversation about it she always gets mad and tells at me. I haven't had sex with her in about a week now and I think I'm just not going to until she acts like an adult about this.

  • First of all the Morning After Pill only works 90% of the time. Plus it is just a huge dose of The Pill anyway so she is probably putting herself at greater risk.

She should set a reminder on her phone to take the pill.

You keep doing like you are doing you are gonna be a daddy or taking her to Planned Parenthood.

  • Well tell her there are other options like IUD, there is spermacides that is like a foam you put inside like you would yeast medicine, the depo shot which I believe lasts 3 months. The pill isn't best for everyone and it does have risks but there are other options. I'm not sure the morning after pill is bad, where did you get that information from? Could it be you are opposed to it for some other reason?

  • I have not had any negative side effects while on the pill. I mean, I haven't had my cycle for a year, but my doctor says it's normal. Just ask her sincerely why she doesn't want to take it. And it's not that hard to remember to take it after a week or so.

  • Let her do whatever she wants with her body and birthcontrol. Never try to make force women into a choice. I prefer taking the morning after pill it's not dangerous to take. I've has bad experiences with birth control so I avoid most of it

  • no you're not wrong. and it's sweet that you care, not many guys do. what if you try out other forms of contraception which don't include the pill? like IUCD implants

  • Yeah the morning after pill isn't good for you to take routinely. Definitely use condoms or the pill. If she won't get on it, insist on condoms.

  • Talk to her about different types of birth control as the pill isn’t the only answer. Find out health risks of pill vs. taking plan B every time, which is so high risk for pregnancy it’s not even funny. Be very careful and look out for yourself, you most likely don’t want an unplanned kid and that’s a fast way to do it. She sounds a little bit selfish as she isn’t thinking of your side of it

  • Go to Walmart and get any of the spermicides

    • Does that actually help? I've heard bad things

    • Yeah... bad idea. Those aren't fool proof.

    • They’re 75% effective overall but can be 90% effective if used correctly

    • Show All
  • Wear condom and respect her choices about pills.

  • Maybe convince her to take the pill by offering sex?

  • she will have a baby

  • What you’re saying is correct, but I am someone who had to get off of birth control because of the way it was making me feel. I gained allllloott of weight , I would always be moody and dizzy and one time I even had my period for 16 DAYS STRIAGHT. You are right about the morning after pill but At the end of the day it’s her body and she can do what she wants
