  • I feel both men and women can be equally selective when finding someone whom they care to be sexual with. Although many may argue that a woman has much more at stake cause if she were to wind up knocked up it's her body that goes through more changes than the man, she'd also hope that the guy is decent enough to take some responsibility than leave her cold. There's also the other argument that men approach woman more so than vise versa. However, I know females who have approached men at bars, music events, clubs and have been turned down - even apps like Tinder speak for itself how many end up "ghosting". Everyone has a certain standard, and I personally feel many assume women to be selective because society expects them to be... but if roles were reversed, I feel men can be just as picky.

    • Well, I’m talking about on average/generally speaking. When it comes to mating and dating, which gender is more selective and/or picky on a wider array of attributes? I wager it is women who are more selective maters

    • Generally speaking, yes women are more selective and it's due to the reasons I had mentioned. The saying goes that females are more sexually coy and men are more sexually aggressive. From personal experience and just chatting with friends, I've learned that men generally kiss so they can get more action. The main reason men cuddle after sex is also... to get more action. Women tend to have a more detailed list of expectations and standards in if they care to stick around or even give into a guy.

    • Yes, agreed

  • Yeah. Guys usually just don't care as much. I've witnessed it and been told straight up by many of them. Girls tend to be more paranoid about who they choose to be with.

    • Agreed

  • Yes, even biologically speaking they're wired to be more picky when choosing mate due to the fact that if there was to be a baby, it's going to have the genes.

    • Agreed

  • Dude.. this is biology 101. Of course they're more selective, because its ore risky for them to have sex then men.. Cause they can get pregnant.

    • Exactly, agreed.

  • The biological drive would be quality for how females chose and quantity for how males select.

Of course we are big brained animals now and we can override biological drives but the root is still there. (fun play on words for our Australian friends as "Root" is a slang term for sex there.)

  • Probably very much

  • Girls are way too selective. Though if they weren't the world population would be like 100 billion by now.

  • Generally speaking, yes. Women are more picky. However, it's all relative to the individual, as well as cultural attitudes towards sex.

  • No generalizations can be made.

They should be more selective since their lifecycle involves pregnancy. They need protection.

  • Yes, because men are most likely to hook up with someone. Women dont hook up as often.

    • I laughed for 10 straight minutes after reading that

    • Disagree?

    • @Rangers i feel you bro

  • Yes men will have sex with glory holes in truck stop bathrooms dude are you kidding me?

    • @PoliceLivesMatter Will you just sleep with anything? It's not picky it's called knowing yourself worth I only go out with top tier guys. Some men are picky most are gross

    • Nope, I won’t sleep with just any woman

  • Yes we are

  • Definitely. It seems to be 90% my say on whether there would be a second date or not with a new guy. The guy would ask and I would either decline or accept persisting anything further

    • Pursuing*

  • I'd say it's pretty much the same.

  • Dating? No. Sex? Definitely. But I would say that dating is a different story.

  • I think so.

  • Only past a certain age.

  • I would think so, because they have more to be picky about. We don't risk getting pregnant from sex.

    • Agreed

  • Mmmm hmmm.

  • Yes we are. I’ve seen too many guys say they would have sex with a girl just because she is a girl.

    • Yet on the other thread, you disagreed with me... lol. This was my point all along, that women are more selective.

    • No I disagreed with you saying that promiscuous women are promiscuous to lash out at the world while with men it’s because they are biologically programmed to do so. I still don’t think that’s true.

    • I didn’t say that though, did you not read? I said “many” women are promiscuous for those reasons but not most or all. I also said that the reasons for men & women being promiscuous is different, and I alluded to the fact that promiscuity is indiscriminate/non selective mating, while women are selective maters. So, it can’t be biological as to why some women are promiscuous, which lead me to believe it’s from other social/environmental factors.

  • Women mostly share their personal stories or even her sexual preferences and experiences in a relationship, with her best friends. Guys, seldom do it. We find it awkward and moreover guys don't share personal information even with their own besties. By personal information, I mean sex/mating. So due to this nature, a woman selects as such that it seems well among her circle as well while men are usually rather complacent.

  • Depends

    • Generally speaking

  • Even though I say that both sexes are picky or selective, I still think women in general tend to be slightly more than men. I also hear it's a trend that women had a history of dating guys who were jerks. So women being the ones who are not rejected outright is both a blessing and a curse for them. If he does happen to be negative or a jerk, it's already too late.

  • Of course they are, they want prince charming, and sadly some guys will go for anything, men need to up their standards too
