You'll be surprised what people, even decent good people can be conditioned.
The fact is that a lot of people simply can't grasp the ideas of pain or power exchanges during sex - or that people can enjoy them in the bedroom without wanting or enjoying it outside the bedroom.
I'm not suggesting that people need to change their OWN preferences - I'm just as fine with people being vanilla in their own bedrooms as being super kinky - but a lot of people think that no one should think or do anything they don't like themselves. And when they come across something like that, it scares them a little, which causes them to demean it in order to feel like they've regained their power over it.
It's just close-mindedness and insecurity at work.
