I would say at the very least trim, you don't need to remove everything if you don't want to but you should probably trim it up so its not a "bush". As for sex hurting that depends entirely on you two, if your not quite ready (aroused and lubricated) and he jams it in, then yeah it will probably hurt at first (but I can't imagine its too terrible (though I obviously couldn't tell you from first hand experience))), but if he is careful, takes his time, their is proper foreplay and your fully aroused then their should be no pain at all.
